Don't forget to click on all the books on the shelves! :)
For the Babylon 5 fans: In the third screen there's one called "Pleasure Thresholds" by Patricia Tallman. Just so you know, that's not an obscure reference (which I only got since I just happened to rewatch some eps a few weeks ago), that's an actual book with her memoirs, Google it if you're interested!
If anyone is wondering, one resource card gives you 20 of that resource, two cards are worth 50, 3x -> 100, 4x -> 300, 5x -> 600, 6x -> 1000, 7x -> 2000 and 8x -> 3000 (sorry, I didn't get to 9x or 10x). Hope this helps someone!
Is anyone else getting a "Base "0" not found. [Interface/loadBase]" error...? Already tried force-refreshing and even restarting browser, but that didn't help.
Did someone already figure out where all those bogus "We detected you tried hacking the game!!!111" messages come from? It would kinda suck to get banned for no reason (except a, badly, broken cheat-detector) right before getting the second achievement... :s
@FizzerWL: Is it possible to select the initial number of neutral armies per territory? On a real board I kinda like playing without neutral and (amid the gazillion things we CAN edit :p ), I was kinda surprised there was no option to change that. I could imagine people wanting to play with 1 (or maybe even 3) as well. Other than that tiny detail: that's a pretty cool game you created, awesome job! I rarely rate higher than four stars; the fifth is reserved for gems like these. :)
Tip for people playing on the Double Earth map (and maybe others):
In order to transfer / attack "over the edge" you have to zoom out as far as you can because the game deselects the highlighted territory when you drag the map (clicking the arrow doesn't work either, you have to click the target territory). So far, so good, but when transferring from Alaska N, Tasmania S or New Sealand S to Anadyr N, you can't click Anadyr because the sound controls are in the way. Work-around: click outside the game and use your browser's zoom (Ctrl-+ on Firefox) once or twice. I'm not entirely sure why it works, but now you can click Anadyr.
Desperately needs an easy way to "upgrade all". Ever tried upgrading forty janitors one level? Waiting until it's night, "pausing" the game, go hunting for them, click one (check you actually clicked the janitor and not the office he's currently in), click upgrade. Don't forget to count how many you've had, since otherwise there's no way to make sure you've got them all. There's a similar issue with upgrading offices: especially the generic offices become quite plentiful and upgrading them one by one rather cumbersome. Also, you cannot downgrade, so if you accidentally upgrade to the wrong kind (IT, Janitor, HR, Exec), you cannot undo that mistake... :(
Strategy advice: don't ever fight a monster if you don't have to (don't even "open" their squares). Every monster is worth one XP; once you go to the next level you'll be awarded one XP for every undiscovered monster!
@crazywarriors:
It would help if you spelled that correctly, it's with one "s" (well, four in total of course): "antidisestablishmentarianism" -- on a related note, this game needs a built-in spell checker! ;)
What exactly is the point of arcade mode? I've already completed those levels... Having to complete all levels again is way too much effort to unlock three bonus levels if you ask me...
## Feature request ## I'd really like a "remove conflicting pencil marks" button. After finding a number, you can often quickly fill in two or three more, right away. And then you've got to remove all the pencil marks which are no longer correct. That's kinda tedious and automating it in no way makes it easier to solve the puzzle. (Of course, if someone thinks it's cheating they don't *have* to use that button anyway, just like some people might opt not to use the "check puzzle" button.)
If you *almost* win a level, just click retry (without changing anything), the final result can differ quite a lot between (identical) tries. And, like KaisarDragon said, if there are still pieces moving, *wait* already before "grading" the level. Also, how about storing my best result on a level? Currently, beating a level, clicking retry and then failing doesn't mark a level as complete (but winning, going back to map, retrying and failing does keep it marked completed)...?
Kinda fun at first, but after a couple dozen levels problems show up: [1] Enemies take forever to kill; their HP keeps increasing but weapon damages pretty much maxes out. (Fix: "power" bonus should be multiplied with weapon damage, not added.) [2] "Agility": +1% chance of being missed. Why am I not invunerable at agility 100? Also, chance to hit differs between fights; I guess it's affected by enemy stats? (Fix: explain game mechanics work somewhere.) [3] After you've bought an item its stats are no longer visible, making it difficult to compare with potential upgrades. (Fix: let me select bought items (without "buy" button) so I can still review their stats (an overview of all stats, including bonuses from all sources, would be great as well).) [4] Switching between wheels/tracks/hover always costs money!? (Fix: remember which carriages I've already bought and let me switch freely.) [5] Once you have all weapons, there's nothing left to do... (Fix: maybe a superboss or something?)
This is one of the games for which I like Kongregate so much: so simple (the concept), so simple (the controls), yet so challenging (to beat). Come to think of it, it's been a while since I played a monochrome game (and I liked this more than some of the games with require a $200+ graphics cards to play smoothly!). For the record: 521 deaths on first attempt.
PS. Damn you Pythagoras...! ;) [the width and height of your cube increase when it rotates; makes some of the timing even more difficult]
This game seems to be heavily inspired by Amorphous (which, personally, I liked better). So, if you liked Get Off My Lawn, you should try http://www.kongregate.com/games/innocuousGames/amorphous as well!
Some random tips: "Heli-T" isn't just an awesome bomber, it can transport other units as well (only one at a time, but it can carry tanks). Not that I found a use for it, but it's still cool. The spy is great for rescuing hostages; enemy units don't shoot at her, so the hostages don't get killed by accident. In levels with hostages, machine guns are better than rockets (no collateral damage)! Almost all levels can be completed with just three units: a spy [to rescue hostages], a commando [to surgically remove enemy units so your spy can get through] and a tank [to kill other tanks and helicopters]. The hard badge isn't hard, just tedious.
You don't want to make the game too easy, but at the moment it gets frustrating... How about a compromise: after you've selected the first element, grey out elements which you've already tried to combine it with. Blindly trying everything still takes forever, but at least you don't keep trying the same combinations over and over again. (Oh, and after a successful reaction, please remember which groups I was working with; having to find and reselect them every single time gets boring rather quickly.)
Seriously Wooly, if there are *that* many birds living in your fur, you should really consider washing more often.
(Speaking of those birds, try this for a nice challenge: kill Wooly without shooting yourself, let you minions do it all by themselves. I got quite far, but at the end gave up; there's just /too/ many (respawning) birds that soak up all the damage.)
In custom games, yes. Check the bottom of the "Initial Distribution" tab. You can set them to 1, or even 0.
