Sure, you might say: "but who cares, the luck balances out." But what if you were in an epic 8 player game, and only you and one other player is left. You have played really well strategically but then the other player wins 4 8v8's in a row with 7 army remaining from each battle. Instead this epic game is now a spoiled game with the victor winning in the end due to luck that no strategy could prevent. Not only is the loser feeling annoyed at the dice result programming, but, if I was the victor, I wouldn't feel satisfied either knowing I have beaten a player not due to strategy but due to luck.

In both my posts I'm not referring to my luck. Obviously luck balances out, as it did in those two cases where I won one and lost one. My issue is with the extreme results which occur at a high frequency. The only way this game can improve is if Lopdo changes the programmed results from dice rolls. When a player rolls 31-23 in an 8v8, the winning player should not be left with 7 army. It is these army results which make this game based too much on luck, instead of skill.

btw, by dice problems i am not necessarily referring to whether the dice are random or not, i am referring to a combination of dice randomness and the programmed army results of dice rolls.

so, after quitting this game for a few months due to the obvious dice problems which existed since the map editor update, i come back today to see if the dice are back to normal . In my first game (attrition which is the only mode I ever play), the first battle is a player attacking my 5 with his 5. He wins with a 4, and finishes off my remaining territories in the same turn. Not sure if this was a fluke roll or if dice problems still exist, i play one more game. First battle, a guy attacks my 8 with his 8, and i win with an 8 remaining. Hmm, I think I will give this game a miss for another month....

enigmatosis, the problem with randomizing turn order each round is that a player may get to attack you twice before you get to reinforce. Eg. if that player has the last turn of a round and then the first turn of the next round, he will get to attack anyone he wants to again without them having a chance to properly defend.

When reading the comments it always amazes me how 70% of the comments get rated the opposite of what they should be rated. For example, why is Kalendan1 getting negatives for naming and shaming backstabbers. In regards to game ideas aswell, many of the silliest ideas seem to get rated up whilst the genius ideas get rated down. This is a clear representation that 70% of VortexWars comment readers are idiots. And to prove my point, I bet this comment will get rated down by those 70% of morons. (dw, i won't be hurt, I know the other 30% will be reading this and thinking spot on, you've nailed it)

alot of the suggestions seem to be over complicating the game a little. The simplicity of the game is one of its main attributes. Alot of the best games on these sorts of websites are the simplest ones. I think Lopdo should stick to the original design of the game and just make small changes to the gameplay and limit large changes to aspects around the game which complement it (eg. map editor and his implementation of shards)

same, I'm not sure if that was an intended consequence of the update but I previously had all the basic races except for ninjas. Since the update I have lost elementals, robots, pirates and soldiers, although I decided to buy pirates back with shards.

i recently bought demons with shards and since then I have had trouble selecting races other than elves or demons whether it be after I join a server or before I join it.

@pascal13 we had an answer to the point you raised before as well. I stated earlier that the solution is to not let a player spawn within a certain number of territories of another player. That way Jaco's idea will work perfectly and result in a more balanced game.
