Every hero after Frostleaf has the same huge gap. Don't sit around waiting to be able to afford him. Ascend and get stronger. Eventually, you'll have no trouble hiring him.
Read the forum tutorials. They did not erase your game save! The game is saved on your flash cookies. If your game is gone, it's because you deleted them. That's why you should always save manually on a regular basis.
Does no one bother to read the tutorial in the forum? Yes, leveling up the early heroes to 1000 is common knowledge. And you click on the bumblebee 'til it dies, to get a free random skill activation.
We just pushed a new version live that should fix the issue. Be sure to refresh and be on the latest one (currently 1.6.51.2, you can check your version in the Save tab), and let us know if there are more issues.
Galev: Mercenary quests are random. If you click on another mercenary, they'll have the same choice of quests. It's up to you to assign the quests to the appropriate one.

I assume you are using Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, as the message says, IE doesn't support Web Audio API, which is the system this game uses for audio.
I have a patch prepared to make it work on Internet Explorer by falling back to HTML5, but that will also include converting all the audio into mp3 (And it's a hell lot) and will make the game even bigger. I will do it later on, but I can not focus on that right now.
If you have other browsers (Firefox or Chrome) they should do fine :)
If you are not using Internet Explorer please send a bug report saying what browser and OS you have, but all major ones should support it. (At least Chrome, Firefox and Safari should). Cheers and sorry I can't do much about that one, is a tricky and lengthy one to fix!

The load works by downloading the files from Kong itself, and it shouldn't definitely take so long. Chances are a file stuck and it's just hanging there, probably if you refresh it should go through.
If it doesn't I would appreciate if you can send me a bug report with your OS, browser and any meaningful info (Like if you just see now loading and that's it, or if you see the new game screen, but pressing new game shows now loading and it gets stuck there, or whatever).
