The only problem I had with the game was the lack of being able to face/shoot diagonally. Everything else was great! Good humor, very well animated, good character/monster design...I really liked it.
The physics are pretty bad. As Cevgar said, the momentum dissipating when your feet leave the ground is pretty counter intuitive and annoying. In addition, when I push the bottom rock in a stack, the top one shouldn't stay in place and hover in the air. It should either go with the bottom rock or the top rock should FALL. You also have floating rocks/boulders triggered to fall when they're bumped? Pretty lame considering the boulder I left suspended doesn't fall no matter what I do...
Controls would be fine if there were control groups. ie: Select x units, assign them all the same hotkey to reselect at a later time. Also, a hot key for breeding instead of/in addition to double clicking would be nice :D Otherwise, solid game! I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Terrible controls mainly because of the "shifting modes". That mechanic is pretty horrible. If it's an rts, I should be able to more easily switch between attack and base management
Hot key for end turn but not for main attack? Seriously? You use that command at least 2x as much. Enemy selection is finicky and annoying at best. Seems like I need to put the cursor on the top sliver of the enemy's icon. anywhere on the enemy should be good enough. Looting doesn't cost move or action points? That seems odd. If I rummage through a dead body looking for goodies, I bet my enemies would have time to shoot my face off. For all who are crying about this as a fallout knock off, where do you think Fallout came from? Fallout is a D&D "knock off" :p
I prefer the original Bug Wars. More customization, more upgrades to keep your interest. The star rating system used in this game is completely opaque to the player, which is incredibly annoying. Tell us what we did "wrong"!
Looks like extra ships stop at 100k which is good because once the the second row is almost full, the extra ships start to get annoying. Why not just use numbers? Not challenging enough. You could add a loop than slowly increased initial asteroid speed or number if having them split is too difficult to achieve.
I don't get the complaints. I never had a problem reaching the point requirement, and I never had a problem with the timer. I did, however, have a lot of fun playing this game. Good job! Intuitive and fun game. Thanks for the effort.
3) Some sort of reward for doing well in previous levels. Perhaps if you lose no lives your extra soul orbs can carry over to the next level or something.
I played through all 20 levels. My comments are intended to help the developer.
Levels 18 and 19 are incredibly easy compared to level 17.
Things I would have liked: 1) The ability to purchase a NEW FIGHTER instead of upgrading. This could be done via the spaceship acting as a barracks. Let me decide which fighters I like to use and beat the waves in my own way.
2) There should be a sandbox/unlimited waves mode unlockable after level 20 is beaten. Maybe this is where the "train a new fighter" thing could be implemented.
