To the game designer: what makes a challenge fun is when you have to beat the odds because the computer has better cards.
What makes a challenge NOT FUN is when the computer gets 80% evade chance, 80% flurry chance, 80% dodge chance, etc. Please fix this! It's ridiculous!
@IamDeath: That's exactly what I said. But people are so overly defensive of this game that they refuse to believe that that is possible. The developer seriously needs to look at his Random Number Generator, because it is BROKEN.
@Stillgone: I don't really see anywhere in my argument where I say "you're wrong, I'm right". It's a logical flow, from mathematics into real life. If something should only happen 9 times out of 1000, but it happens more often than that, something is wrong.
@RATPTO1: It's not about predicting results. It's about statistical analysis. If I flipped heads 200 times in a row, you wouldn't say to yourself, "the results of this coin toss are unpredictable"; you would say, "that coin is not properly balanced".
@stillgone: You are not correct in your numbers. You can perform an "average life expectancy" for a regenerate card. What is the likelihood that it will die after getting to 0 HP once? 50%. What is the likelihood that it will die on its first or second time getting to 0 HP? 75% First/second/third time? 87.5% First/second/third/fourth time? 93.75% First-seventh time? 99.22% That means that there is only a 0.88% chance (9 times out of 1000) that a regen card should regenerate 7 times. Yet, this happens ALL THE TIME. Far more than it should, according to statistics.
Likewise, with this game. It is supposed to be an even chance of dodge/not dodge, evade/not evade, etc. It's POSSIBLE that dodges can happen 8 times in a row. Heck, it's POSSIBLE that I could play this game the entire way through and never hit a single flying unit (w/o antiair/flying). Is it likely? No. Similarly, it is very unlikely that these patterns are due to chance alone. It is MORE likely that there is something within the code that is causing similar results to turn up (i.e., if you dodge once, you're more likely to dodge again; if you don't dodge, you're more likely to continue not dodging). This is not the way it should work, and it means that there is a problem in the random number generation.
@RATPTO1: You are correct that anything's POSSIBLE when dealing with probabilities. You're not understanding what I'm saying though. Suppose you were playing a scratch-off lottery game that advertised "1 in 4 wins!" If you bought 16 tickets, you are expecting to win 4 times. If you instead win 0 times, you will be surprised, but say "well, that's just bad luck." But if you do that ten more times and continue to not win, you will eventually begin to suspect that it is not, in fact, 1 in 4, as advertised. And in fact, you can do statistical analysis to say "I am 99% certain that that is false advertising." You can never get to 100%, unless you have all of the tickets ever printed, but the larger your sample set, the greater your certainty can be.
@RATPTO1: I'm suggesting that the way the dodges/reincarnations/evades that are generated is not using real randomness. Every 3 fights something dodges 8 times in a row. The likelihood of that happening is 0.0015%. That means it should happen about one time out of 100,000. Not 1/3. So the fact that it's happening so often means that there is something wrong with the number generation. If you like, I will run a Chi-squared statistical analysis to show that the numbers generated are not truly random.
But the point is that the game is good, but the random number generator REALLY NEEDS WORK.
Maybe fix the Random number generation system. I'm tired of flying units dodging 8 times in a row. There's a 0.4% chance of that happening, but it's happened like 100 times.
