Not too hard once you get the hang of it. Got the 3000 badge the first time out, and only died twice on the road to 21. I died about a dozen more times on the boss before I figured out how to avoid getting run over.
I would have enjoyed more variety. The different enemies had cool different attacks, but you defeat them all with the same run-away strategy. (Until the end boss... I think the reason I died so much on him was that it was the first time running directly away didn't work, because he was faster than I was and able to run me over like a squirrel.)
Graphics were awesome, the colors were sharp and the explosions large and colorful, without being overwhelming.
Weapons were pretty generic, though the wave was a nice touch. Sounds and music were generic, but good.
Liked it the same as the original. The story was just fluff that I gave a thorough skimming, and the improved graphics were as much a distraction as they were an improvement. (For example, the light gray tiles on dark gray translucent squares were a bit annoying at times. The puzzles were about the same as the first one.
I'm going to get annoyed if there is a third one, also with a badge, though.
Maybe next time explore non-square tiles, or irregular, pitted surfaces, or maps across all sides of the surface?
Fun once, but after the description hyped it up, I was disappointed at the predictable gameplay. The only interesting part was headshotting the little running dudes. If you always use the lowest number weapon possible to kill things, you don't run out of ammo and the game is easy.
I only died once, and it was when I got swarmed by the speedy little suicide bombers, and didn't adapt to sucking up some damage and nailing the next wave fast enough.
Why is a pistol a more effective weapon against battlemechs than a shotgun and assault rifle combined? We'll never know.
Why does one rocket do about 5% damage against a goliath, and then the second rocket does the remaining 95% damage?
Mildly amusing, but the collision detection doesn't always work quite right, and the first time I broke 101 seconds to get a card, the game froze on me.
Cute idea, but not terribly interesting implementation.
It is too easy. You can't die, even if you try. There aren't many bubble upgrades, and all the enemies are the same kind of stupid.
Decent idea, I suppose, but card balance is terrible, net play doesn't work (cards fail and sometimes it lets you play cards which take your resources negative), and the constant play-one/draw-one gets a bit old.

Truly awful user interface. The cards are hard to read, there is annoying scrolling text unrelated to the game, there are mouse-hover activated areas which aren't shown on the screen, the scrolling is choppy.
What's more, with fewer piles than normal solitaire, the game is even more arbitrary.
The animation, interesting effects of the weapons (like the machine gunning cannon) and upgrade structure are all well done. However, I didn't find the gameplay itself that interesting. It doesn't have the dynamic maze aspects of Desktop Tower Defense, and the linear path the critters take makes it seem more like an assembly line than defense.
A decent idea, but it lacks depth. The challenges should be more dynamic, and less trial and error, so that the game is more strategic. Guards which look different ways, but only notice shot comrades they see, things like that. Similarly, as you progress, the tactical timing of taking shots should become more difficult.
The music and sound work is excellent, and there is always something compelling about good stick figure animation. A little simple ragdoll physics added in (or maybe just a few more canned animations), and it would be fantastic.
