Play through each speed run on easy, opening the other cheapest other speedruns as you gain bones, progressing onto medium, and hard. Also, it's nearly impossible to beat any modes on insane without maxed stats. There is no way to complete this game w/o tons and tons and tons of grinding.

A very good strategy for the bosses is to equip the lazer lock, the lightning, and the short shield. Basically, place your ship directly over the center of the boss, use and fully fire your lightning and short shield. They will do massive damage to it, and you will only take a couple hits. Then when the boss is flying around, stay away as far as possible and spam your lazer lock. Rinse and repeat :)
So, the actualy way the beat the game-----------------------
Only upgrade Elves as soon as you get them. When you've maxed all upgrades, you can try the final level.
Max your in battle upgrades and send ONLY FOREST GUARDIANS (or Angel knights if you have them) Don't sent anything else or it will trigger the Lord of Hell's area damage.
The Forest Guardian's have a long enough range so that they are outside the Lord of Hell's attack.
Don't bother exp grinding for the Angel Knights.
