I think this would feel more satisfying if the laser fired when you hit the final letter of the mora, instead of having to hit return all the time. Maybe you could also get a Japanese speaker to pronounce all the characters for you and incorporate that into the game somehow, even if it's just being able to click on the characters and hear the pronunciations at the screen you see before the rounds start. Very cool to see a game like this on Kong :).
Please make the S key also activate the disabler, it's really frustrating that the whole way up to that point S performs the same as the down arrow, but then suddenly I have to either start using space or swap to the arrow keys
