Bug/Mistake, if you accept the fairy dust from the dust merchant, it still says
"You gave the Dust Merchant half of your coins and she hands you a small bag in return and leaves."
Well it is not a bad game, but I think the metaphor is not THAT deep, the use of the mythology of not looking back is interesting but hardly ground breaking, and personally, I know this might sound a little shallow, but I think the 8 bit graphics detract a little from the game, and a smoother finish would have given the game a little more gravitas, though the sound track was nice, I felt parts of the game play were a little clunky with the jumping (esp the horizontal lightning bolt near the end) Personally I much prefer games where agility is not a major hindrance to gameplay(Gunbot and final ninja based purey on controls). I was going to give 3 stars, mainly because that horizontal lightning bolt annoyed me lot, but I settled for a more generous 4 mainly because I liked the music and the attempt to put in a theme unlike some other games though I felt 4 was a bit generous 3.5 stars for me ideally
also the mirror mechanism does not serve to do anything other than make you look at two maps, nothing is done to enhance it, or make the mechanism essential to the puzzle, unlike for example in "hello worlds" with a similar game mechanic where maps are eliminated etc, sorry for being so harsh, but I just found the game frustrating for all those reasons.
Normally I am quite generous with marks to any game which is reasonably polished, to show an appreciation for effort, but I am afraid it is 1/5 for me, the controls were just too frustrating making you run into traps accidentally, and the game play allows only basically one path to solve, which is easy to figure out, and hard to do. In a good puzzle game, the opposite would be true, i.e. easy to do once you figure out how, it is not that I hate the genre, in fact I LOVED "final ninja" and it is not that I find the game too hard, but it is a terrible example of fake difficulty, where it is only difficult because they have put traps everywhere and make you jump over them every second with only one save point per level,
