Protip: Pick Viegraff the Red as your first character. He unlocks some of the best spells AND units in the game. As a second pick, I'd probably go with Grimtooth. (green general)
For those of you wondering: the Doom chest contains your monster's heart. How do I know that, you ask? A stubborn refusal to use the chest's repair function.
5/5 just for having a dev that actually takes suggestions! The ONLY thing that bugged me about the game was the lag. Fortunately, you can turn down quality by right clicking on portions of the sky blue background with no other objects in from of them. This will bring up the normal right click menu, which includes the option to change the quality. UNfortunately, these changes are undone at the start of every launch, and have to be re-fixed. Perhaps make low-quality mode an in-game option?
I'm honestly surprised to see that this game hasn't gotten better ratings. It's a beautiful and artistic game, and that's coming from someone who HATES puzzle games as a rule. Well done! (=
Brief walkthrough: Buy arc spread, spiraller, save for energy homers, save for BFG. Once you have BFG, you can stand in one corner, fire at the other corner, and walk inside the projectile. Nothing except bullets can touch you and you're off cooldown by the time you reach the other corner. Buy lightning, which clears the entire screen if you blow all your ammo. BFG + lightning can clear any nonboss level. Then buy laser lock and the final weapon. On bosses, use laser lock + energy homers + your final weapon. If you want, buy shortshield (massive damage to turrets/spawners) and slow time (if you have trouble dodging). + if this helped.
Strength and Intellect are the only two stats that can't be learned over time. Please keep this in mind when spending your stat points. 8-1-1-10 is the recommended build on the wiki.
I think that the best thing to do to make level 3 upgrades (and achievements!) more useful would be to have them stack multiplicatively. You're already calculating the total additive multiplier, so just take that number and multiply it by 1.5 or whatever you want the number to be, and then save it. Helps you keep up with the exponential cost increases. (=
For those of you wondering what to buy, get plasma gun right away (great damage for the price) and upgrade it a few times. Then save for the Northrop ship (~4.6k). Then buy frag grenades & upgrades, then 2 money printers, and finally save for the plasma bomb. Easy!
Please, please, please give us the option to continue wielding our old weapon when confronted with a new item. Sure, I think that pair of scissors might come in handy later, but that doesn't mean that I'm going to drop my razor-sharp katana. I'd much rather just shove the scissors in my backpack for later use. But, failing that, I'd like an option to put the scissors back and pick up the katana again.
I just released a new version! Instead of giving you the option to continue wielding your old weapon, you will now wield the weapon that will do the most damage in combat. You'll keep your razor-sharp katana, instead of brandishing a dull pair of scissors. You can also manage your inventory by clicking on words like "YOU" or "YOUR" on any page. Combat is also cleaned up. Equip any weapon in your inventory in the combat screen, clicking on the text that says, "You hold scissors in your hand," to access the option to dig through your backpack.
I was actually extremely intrigued by this game. Unfortunately, button mashing with the skill required to defeat Nobody is beyond my capabilities. Guess I'll never be able to actually play this game. )=
This game actually plays far more simply than it appears to be. I was able to clear this game easily by (1) getting a mantle, hero's helm, and aegis ASAP (2) equipping 2 judgement beam and 2 divine beam skills (The former reduces dodge AND armor, while the latter stuns. You need nothing else) (3) eventually equipping a Qatar, Elven Crown, Aegis, Golden Armband, and TWO Golden Boots (this makes your move speed so high that you can walk through enemies and they won't have time to hit you, as long as you don't stop moving). Once you reach this point, you pretty much become immortal. Nothing can touch you as long as you keep moving, and everything is incapacitated vulnerable whenever you drop one of each of your two spells, allowing you to mop up enormous mobs in a few swings. Enjoy! (;
I just love the feeling that I get from playing this game. Just the right difficulty: (this is playing on normal) easy enough that I can jump into the middle of mobs of enemies and come out alive, but hard enough that I have to make superb use of my skills to pull that off. Upgrades help just enough to be very useful without making grinding a necessity in order to advance. Bosses are genuinely hard and very fun to fight. And, best of all, NO LEVEL CAP! 5/5
I enjoyed this flash game so much that I made a walkthrough for it! That's never happened to me before, and I doubt it ever will again. Well done, xdanod! http://www.kongregate.com/forums/3-general-gaming/topics/175829-rpg-shooter-starwish?page=13
No adds? Loop? Play videos in sequence? 11/10, 5 stars, and favorited. Now we just need to find a way to make this game fullscreen and watch it become more popular than actual Youtube! (;
I think it deviated too much from the previous games' formula. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
