This was surprisingly beautiful. I'm a sucker for games with profound messages tied up with a silly bow. The humor and simple style and thought out dialogue makes this absolutely perfect to me. I love the horror psych-out, too. Definitely thought this was going in another direction! Thank you so much for making this.
Couldn't start the game (the new game button) for the life of me? I ended up just keyboard smashing? Enter didn't work, clicking didn't work, space didn't work. Am I just an idiot?
I really love the UI of this game. At first, it seems overwhelming and crowded, but once you get accustomed to the flow of the unlocks and what each tab does, it feels really natural and makes the design feel rather sleek for all the information crammed into the game. (Also, is the Developer's profile picture Atlas from Portal? That just makes me love this game even more...)
I love the graphics of this game. Smooth animations, cute art style, interesting and intuitive UI. But I just can't get past how grindy it is. The skill jump between even the first and second level is indicative of a poorly planned level system. I feel like I shouldn't have to farm the first level to feel like I can survive the second, especially given how easy the first level is. Or maybe I'm just bad at this game.
Also, a possible audio glitch, but on the settings menus, when you press left or right, the little "bloop" sound effect loops and gets sort of loud. It's also sort of difficult to navigate the settings (like the song select) because it's very sensitive and difficult to select something specific. Not a terrible glitch, just thought you would like to know! c:
I would pay good money for a longer version of this game, or a sequel, or basically just anything with this style, ambiance, and humor. I am in love with this game. There's just so much love put into this, I'm flabbergasted that this is free to play, even though it's short. I would have happily paid upwards of 15$ for this.
Is anyone else having an issue with mouse tracking? At times, it lags so much that it can take up to 10-15 seconds to aim properly (with autofire on). Other than that, this game is really fun once you get accustomed to it.
These simple sprites and mechanics lead to such charming games that are so fun to play! Really smooth platforming, too. Please never stop uploading games to Kongregate!!!
I always feel that I'm going to offend my citizens by denying them, but most people are actually surprisingly civil and understanding when I say no! That really reinforces the feel-good, cheerful nature of this game, and is one of the biggest reasons why I love it! It's very difficult to really screw up bigtime in this game, which is probably why I've continued playing up to day 124 (4641 population, 722 happiness, 2481 gold) and intend to continue playing for quite a while! Hats off to the developer!
This game deserves a badge. An easy badge, but a badge nonetheless. One of the better, more cheeky games I've played in a long time. I'm surprised the trope of adding cute little puzzle elements to a classic, sentimental game isn't more popular.
I can't believe I legitimately thought that once you fill the tub up with water, you were supposed to use the razor to slit your wrists or something along those lines.
After a while, it seems like I want my stash to be filled so I can leave the game idle and farm combinations (with the automatic sell and museum perks.) Stash upgrades seem tedious, and gold becomes entirely useless around tier 4 or 5 (depending on the speed at which you maxed your upgrades.) This game has a lot of potential and I love it so far despite the previously stated issues.
I've seen countless complains regarding the momentum compromise when hitting a balloon with the rocket out, but personally I adore that aspect of the game. Similar games (Toss the Turtle, Kitten Cannon, etc.) are all luck based, which gets super repetitive. But the mechanic of actually having control, regaining momentum temporarily, and having hazards be more hazardous, puts the game in your hands once more. This game is crazy addicting, and quite honestly my favorite game that John has worked on.
Thanks! :)
