Um, is there any way to lose this game? They just go around in circles forever until you kill them, right? There isn't a actual "tower" to defend best I can tell. I mean, what's the point of slowing them down; they'll be back around in a few seconds, and there's nothing to protect. Very strange.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm working on another version that will incorporate some of your suggestions, as well as a few extras I came up with on my own. Stay tuned for Spillville2: Burn Baby Burn!
The most obvious problems are the frame rate, which is set too low, and the hit test. The built in hit test doesn't work very well for round objects, or pretty much anything but a rectangle. There are custom pixel-perfect hit test functions in the kong developer forums and other websites you should check out. Is there a way to win, or are we doomed to always fail?
The ball is pretty, and it does bounce. Would have been nicer if it rotated / rolled as well. Gravity is no where near Earth's; perhaps we're bouncing it on the moon? The mouse controls are kind of like an invisible rubber band, which is pretty neat.
A minor improvement. Instead of diff.normalize(1) then multiplying diff.x & diff.y by speed, you can just do diff.normalize(speed) and x += diff.x and y += diff.y
Very nice! You get a lot done with just a little code.
fastcar25, you should be able to add some simple code to change the current rotation of obj by a maximum of obj.maxRotationSpeed:Number towards the end rotation calced in his function.
Um, is there anything besides a white screen? Not sure how you're supposed to enter a code or play the game. Click on a black unlabeled button and everything goes white.
It's a poor man's WarCraft 1, except it's virtually unplayable. Performance is so bad when you get some armies on the screen, you can hardly issue commands. And your guys just shit there and don't fight back? Please. Great graphics and sound though.
