To get the lagtastic medal put indie mode on, 3d mode on, and make sure every grid slot after your ship is a level 5 laser and every other slot is filled and use a bomb (by pressing spacebar)
I did it on the final boss but it should be possible on another high wave. It has to do with your fps as soon as that reaches a certain level you will unlock the medal. Have fun hope this helped :)
