Great game FizzerWL. I had a go at making a Risk-style game once and can appreciate the AI intricacy. If anyone wants to learn about AI, this sort of game is a great start.
Rhys, we are all keen to know when you plan on releasing "Pick a Card, Any card 2". I have literally spend days mastering this game and can't wait for the next instalment. I love the elaborate performance of card 2, and the subtle minimalism of card 4.
The name of this game is "Adapt or Die". Basically it says a lot about the people who can't cope with the different controls... if you do not adapt to the game, you will die. It's just like real life in that sense. Tough luck that the controls don't seem "fair".. life isn't fair. Adapt or Die! win.
Stop crying about the drag and drop issue. It's a different type of control interface that is a challenge, and makes it not feel like every other RTS out there. Just because it's not as easy for your simple brains doesn't mean it shouldn't be a control mechanic. Just as your "bees" evolve, maybe you could evolve to learn a new way of playing.
Great game. This comment isn't about the game, but about the title splash screens to loads of games on Kongregate... they are annoying. If you are a developer and are designing a splash screen, make it very short and sweet. Don't make some crazy thing that swishes around and sounds like a dentist on acid. Just a simple image. Why does your self-promotion have to swoosh around the screen in my face? Just a picture. Please.
Really need to work on getting that "GO" button to work properly... and maybe make the gun fire automatically if the mouse button is kept down. You probably are new to making games so you can only improve :) good luck.
Tip for hard badge: Play normal mode until you have the following perks - Military boots (+20% speed), Splinter shells (shrapnel from explosions), Armor, APC vehicle. Unlock all the middle- and bottom-row skills. You don't need all the top-row, just the max tier missile launcher. When you start the endless mode your squad is now in an armored car. Drive the car around solid obstacles and if you have to, drive over enemy troops. Try to drive to the cages, so you pick up more troops who get into the car. Do this as long as possible, until the car blows up from low HP or you hit a solid object, at which point the car blows up killing everything on the screen except for the people in the car. Now you have a major head-start. Call the helicopter support when things get tough. When the bombers come in, pull to the bottom of the screen to give yourself more time to move. Good luck! + to keep alive.
There are quite a few bugs if you play the game through a second time - variables not being reset most likely. The main bug is when you remove current from a connection, sometimes it doesn't stop. I think this only happens on 2nd play through.
Don't appreciate games that use the word "fail" towards it's players. Programmer is the failure for not thinking that it would get annoying at tougher levels.
One day, "pick a card any card 2" will be released... Stay tuned.
