I like the fact that you can use the numpad rather than the mouse, but it kept messing me up looking at the keypad on the screen, which is on phone layout, rather than keypad layout. I kept hitting 8 instead of 2, and stuff like that.
I like the idea behind this a whole lot, but a couple of things get in the way of this game being good. First off, there is no animation of the blocks, making it really hard to dodge anything based off of skill and instead relying on memorization. If there were a visual hint that a block was about to move and a bit of in-between animation between its start and final position, it'd be a lot easier to dodge things. Also, the blocks' movement doesn't have any real consistent effects on the bars. Sometimes the drums move the left side, sometimes the whole border gets smaller. Again, that runs into the trial and error thing. A game isn't fun when to beat it you have to memorize it.
I like the concept, but if you're going to put this on a website that's specifically geared towards an English-speaking audience, you might want to change the n~ key to something that the typical english speaker would actually have on their keyboard, like ;
Considering how much you talked this game up in chat (if you're the guy I remember from a week or two ago), I'm pretty disappointed. Also, BIG minus points for telling someone to click the little box for game rules and have it point to your blog, which has nothing but a "hello world" post on it. And it could use some writeups on the controls, because they're awkward compared to the perspective you have the game at.
I like this game because of how limited it is, actually. DTD makes me feel dumb because no matter how smart I think I've laid everything out, those stupid creeps somehow kill me. This game makes me feel less stupid.
I get very easily confused playing this game. I have no clue what direction my shots are going to go in, I can't figure out what's hitting me and killing me, and I can't find a reason why I'm moving between levels. Enemies are still on the screen and then all of a sudden the background changes.
First off, there appear to be 9 balls, not 8. :P
Secondly, it doesn't feel like there's enough precision involved in taking a shot. I keep missing shots because angles that I try to hit end up not registering, and the ball goes way off in the wrong direction.
I was about to give this game a 3 for being a nicely-done but kind of generic shooter, but then the parry system and the godzilla WITH A ZIPPER kicked in. A neat SF3-style parry shield (I kind of wish it restored more HP, but still...) and a freakin' funny Godzilla make this game better than the average shooter. The graphics are well-drawn but incredibly pixelated and nasty-looking quality-wise, so on your next game (and I hope you have a next one!) I'd work on transferring your sprites a little better, it'd go a long way towards letting people appreciate the art style.
Holy cow, a breakout idea with an original twist on it? IMPOSSIBLE! While it makes the game hard to play, the slipperiness of the paddle is *gasp* unique!
Once I got over my urge to throw the bombs by letting go of the mouse button, I liked how tense the game got. Kind of goes from 0 to 11 in .5 seconds towards the end, but I like it!
Ugh. Another Bejeweled clone. Note to game makers: This game is about as overdone as Asteroids and Pong knockoffs. Try something else. This one isn't bad, and I like the diagonally moving pieces, never seen that before, but still, there's only so much Bejeweled that one internet can take.
This game needs improvements in a lot of ways... I'm not a huge fan of asteroids clones unless they do something unique, and this one doesn't... there's no sound effects, no momentum (not necessarily NEEDED, but if you don't have it you have to make it harder some other way) and I really don't like that there's nothing to help you out when you die. Dying 3 times from 3 shots because you can't move fast enough is irritating.
I like this game, it's a good mix between MahJong and... jeez, one of those PopCap games. I'm not a fan of games without sound effects, though, and the timer is a bit on the hard side. Overall, though, I like it :)
Any breakout clone where I can't change the direction of the ball is an instant loser. I love breakout a LOT, and so seeing that basic feature of the game broken annoys me to no end.
