I find that I rarely use my melee units due to their limited range. If there was a was to "un-pave" some of the enemy's roads in order to force them to funnel past my limited-range units, I would probably use them more often.

Yup, they all have names. But you can feel better knowing those same guys are reborn at some point during the game. Old soldiers never die....
