@r_rabid: Yes, this usage is transitive. The issue is not that it is being used transitively or intransitively. It is that the word is completely inappropriate in context, which is why I posted the dictionary definition. Bantering is exclusively about conversation and verbal exchanges. There is no conversation or witty repartee taking place here: this is alternately torture, or practical jokes, depending on how you look at it. And how do you "help" someone banter? If you want to write a game about the King bantering his subjects, we should be crafting witty insults for him to use. "Torturing" or "annoying" would be better in context.
A reply to some concerns about my earlier criticism:
Banter is being used in a transitive form here, which while unusual, *can* be correct: "Diana went up to him and commenced bantering him about his awkwardness" (from Harpers Bazaar, vol. 41). Admittedly, I've never heard it used in this manner before. In fact, since this game is the highest hit on google for "bantering his", we can see how infrequently it's used in this manner. However, I believe the usage remains incorrect because bantering is still about spoken conversation: lighthearted teasing and joking. Nothing to do with torturing your subjects with crude devices and dropping them into buckets! :)
The math is backwards. Rewarding promotions means it's a GOOD idea to spend an hour having your repair guys repairing a wall while a bug damages it. Instead, award more points per bugs, with even more for the bigger bugs. Reward for killing, and more as it gets harder.
The interface design & animations are horrible. Hard to tell what you're supposed to be looking at. Making it all "avante garde" doesn't improve the usability or the gameplay. Try to make it easier to read and apply standard Human Computer Interface principles.
What's stupid is having the same button for passing & switching players. You're holding *down* to run after the ball, hit "switch", but in the same moment get a tackle, and your new player throws the ball into your own goal.
Suggestion: if you're pressing two keys (eg. down & right) while against a wall, make the mouse move in the direction you can still go, rather than getting "stuck". This is a UI change that makes games feel much smoother.
An eating animation would be cute when it gets the cheese.
