For those of you using ivod's guide: In order for a much easier 5-3(B) win, you need to sell 3 cannons and replace them with Shockwaves. This enables you to kill the mini boss before your screen is filled with so many bullets you don't know what to do. Just a friendly pro tip-if anyone finds an easier way to win, let it be posted.

Make my way to a divine edge store, spring for the 200 gold price
