also, the hitboxing is a little odd. sometimes i shoot something and it seems like my bullets travel right through them; on the other hand, when i shoot the fish, it seems like i have to hit a spot just below them for my shot to register.
overall, i think this is a great game. i like the gameplay experience and controls, and i like the double jump and edge skills and how you can take advantage of the combination of both in game. i played around with some of the shields and the weapons and i enjoy that aspect of the game. i think the drawback of this game is that you can max out on EXP in the first world, and all of the skills. once you max out on skills, the game gets boring to play. there isn't any motivation--at least for me--to keep playing. it would be nice if you could open up new skills to earn with each world.
please add a way to unlock multiple levels at a time (like 4-5). i've been stuck on one level for 30 minutes and i've decided my time is worth more than the intense boredom your game is now causing. if i could move past this level i would keep playing, but as it is, discovering the one degree of difference in muzzle angle to take out the one guy left standing is on the bottom of my list of priorities along with getting kicked in the balls and fellating an porcupine.
i like this game. while i liked the ability to choose different weapons from TA2, it didn't seem to affect gameplay all that much, so i think it was a good decision to take that element out. i think you should do more with some of the mechanics from TA2, though. three that i miss are: (1) the crosshairs moving in response to physiological elements like breathing and heartbeat, (2) missions where your objective is to distract people rather than kill them, and (3) receiving target info in the middle of the mission rather than at the beginning. i thought that the latter was a creative addition to TA1 and added some variety to the missions. the addition of knifing in this game was another excellent expansion of the game mechanics but i thought this game would be improved if you kept some of those mechanics from TA2 and if the game was longer. i enjoy the TA series but they are all so short. anyway, i hope you keep it up!
i enjoyed the game. i would like there to be a way to tell, in every screen, that you succeeded. i still don't know if jumping off of the building is the way to "solve" that screen. something like the dude yelling "yippee" would at least let me know that i finally got it right.
the very last jump--[SPOILER ALERT]--where you have to drop from the ceiling and then jump back up so that you can get to the golden door--is extremely difficult. i've spent most of my evening playing this game. the bosses seem to be ridiculously difficult but i'm willing to accept that as a reasonable challenge. but this final jump is ridiculous. it's pretty much ruined my experience of your game and it's no longer worth it to me to finish playing. (i've spent the good part of an hour grinding away at this task, which is roughly 2/3rds of the amount of time i've put into the game. that's more than enough, i think, to decide that your ending sucks.)
i can't figure out how to do the jump on the third level. hug the wall and jump? whatever is supposed to happen isn't happening unless i'm supposed to die repeatedly.
my heart beats faster as the coaster gains speed and i can tell i have to work harder to maintain my focus the longer i play. things like that make playing this game a thrill.
i agree with starspinXP. the controls are a challenge in their own right. couldn't he tell us to use X and C and J to jump and all that, but really we could use the arrow keys and spacebar? also, i experienced some serious lag when i was playing, mostly towards the final few levels. however, i am really enjoying this game. except for the ending. i think i've died about 50 times on that stage alone.
i love everything about this game except for the controls. i don't know how you could possibly remedy it, but the mouse is always getting away from me when i'm playing. the controls ruin this game for me.
i would like it if you could continue from the level that you get beat on. having to start all over again when i lose a match makes me want to play another game.
nice work guys. like some here, i do agree that this game is a lot like canabalt, but you've changed some things around to make the mechanics different, which i appreciate. i also like the fact that the game requires only 1 key to play--i think it's the simplicity of the game that makes it so fun to play. i love canabalt, but i like the colors and the background effects in this game, all of which make it difficult for me to focus on what i am supposed to be doing and therefore add a layer of complexity to the game. with the exception of a pause feature, i don't think there are any recommendations i could make. i'm just having a great time playing it.
is there any way you can change the controls to keyboard + mouse? also, i agree with those calling for a strafe movement. i noticed that when using WASD, A and D would strafe, whereas with the arrow keys, my left and right arrows would actually spin me left or right. this seems like a bug.
this was a fun game. i didn't think the story was all that original, but i liked the way it was presented. i do wish that more had come of the subplot with the other AI. perhaps there's a sequel on the way? i also agree with metagamer about the randomness of the levels.
