@aresequalswar Fair enough, but the fact remains that in order to reach the end-game and be at all competitive you're going to have to shell out cash on the regular to keep up with the evolving metagame. Free players and occasional buyers are easily farmed by dedicated warbonders. Very few top players will admit this though, because all those crippled free players sweeten the pot.
BYM is a potentially great game that's ruined by serious bugs, major game design flaws, numerous hacks and of course a complete lack of updates and fixes on Kong. The quick PvP action of levels 25-35 is fun but once you hit the world map (assuming you don't lose your base in the process) the game slows, literally and figuratively, to a crawl. And like many other pay-to-win games, you'll never know whether you're in a fair fight or you're up against a hacker/wallet-warrior who just clicked the "OMG 100x POWERUP" button. The much-awaited facebook updates don't do much to address the deeper flaws in the game. If you aren't already playing you shouldn't start now.
@MattxAus I don't object to the devs making money. It's a playability issue. Energy meters are among the most user-hostile 'innovations' in modern web gaming. There are better ways to make a buck.
This game is interesting, the artwork is absolutely charming, and there seems to be long-term depth to the gameplay. The problem is that every time I start to get into Tyrant and think about really learning the game the energy bar runs out. Then I forget about it for two weeks and the cycle begins anew. If you want my money you have to at least give me a chance to get hooked on the game!
Once you learn how to farm Kozu there's no challenge anymore. A level 6 Kozu farm coughs up 2.5 mil resources per silo and regens every 6 hours. I find myself upgrading like crazy just to empty my silos and I'm still under protection. I don't see the point in going after players or agonizing over defense or waiting ages for some high-level monsters to build when I can knock over an NPC with weenies and get all the resources I need.
