Slight counter to Suuljin's build: Lead your troops with one mammoth turtle, so it goes t,g,s,h,4g,s,h,2g - with good use of heal you can keep the turtle alive for at least 2.5 waves, which gives you 21 hits through three waves everytime.
Bosses in the post-campaign side missions have far too much health. When it takes 10+ minutes of wailing on a boss with 600+ damage weapons, that's a problem. Even so, great game! 4/5.
I'm not gonna lie, I went into this game thinking 'how silly'. And it is. Buuuuut - it is really fun! And even makes me feel a little happy. Well done! 5/5
I wish we could see the stats after a battle - how many planes downed, what types, what accuracy, and so on. It'd be cool to know how well you did in more detail than a simple score.
@DrFlubiver
I 5/5 the game as well, I think it's a nice and innovative concept, and pretty well executed.. Just think some of the ideas are a little emo - if you let anyone get 'too' close, you'll be irreparably harmed. Anyway, just a passing comment. I like the game.
Hmm. Some of the 'game' tips present advice that is both jaded and naive. Ie, if it looks like you might be happier somewhere else, hit the road ASAP! No sense sticking with what is working for you at this very second.
By way of (hopefully) constructive criticism, I would recommend that you de-power the Cluster Bomb a little - once you upgrade it 3 or 4 times it really takes most of the challenge of the game. To offset that, I wonder if you could increase the clipping a little? I've always found one of the most fun elements of games like this to be dodging hostile fire. Now maybe I'm just not skilled enough at this particular game, but it seemed that any attempts at slipping between the enemy's bullets always resulted in my ship getting damaged. If you could make dodging more possible, I think it would really improve the game.
Anyway - great game! I enjoyed it pretty thoroughly - especially the 'notebook' style animation. Very cool!
beautiful music and evocative writing. even so I found the controls frustrating enough that I can't see myself finishing. which makes me sad because it's a beautiful game.
Easiest way to win the game: Level up Jump and Heal and Fortitude to 5, give the boy enough gems to raise your relationship to 5. That should give you enough health to beat nightmare easily. Then get double jump and just jump into the Sacred Grounds (don't worry about big gems) and activate the computer scan. You can beat the game in about 10 minutes this way.
