Very well made game, good playtime and boss battle. Nice plot, too. I'd like to see a sequel with more sandbox feel - if you don't do a mission in time, for example, the target will be destroyed/hostile (i.e. that antimatter missile mission uncompleted would've made missile cruisers tougher, not destroying the main base would've made more missions to contain new nexii, etc).
Looking forward to more from this developer :D
Loci, I couldn't have put it better myself. You nailed the reason that I'm very, very pissed off at the people screaming "NAZI! PRO-NAZI GAME!!!" and those in RL who still discriminate against Germany for their history.
RedBeard: Ahhh, such ignorance. There has NEVER been a war about good an evil. WW2? Yes, Hitler, Mussolini (and Stalin) were all horrible dictators, and needed to be stopped (Stalin was an unfortunate mistake...). Have you ever read the terms of Versailles? Have you ever read about just how completely hopeless things were in Germany, a thousandfold worse than Depression-trodden America? They were sick of oppression, angry at the victors of WW1 for putting the blame on them, and they wanted a way out. Hitler gave them that opportunity. Arigold16: Actually, that argument works both ways. What about the common German soldier, the one fighting for his country, the one fighting so he and his family can have SOME hope of a better life? Contrary to what many people believe, WW2 was not "White hats vs. Black hats." Propoganda from WW2 promoting that still seems to have its effect. Simple fact was, the Allies weren't that much better than the Axis, if you look at both sides!
Oh, also (sorry for double comment), game DOES need a kill counter. Also, the only other thing I'd add would be more difficult waves (i.e. beach recedes, boats land on-screen and there's less time to shoot guys), and a wave counter.
Spe720: AntiTD is what I was referring to ;). Anyway, Anduril: the MG and Mortar weapons are intentionally the only weapons. They make the game easy enough - I lasted until day 15 until I just got bored (no cutscenes after the tanks show up or you kill 500). If there were other weapons, it'd make the game simply too easy (and even more unrealistic). Artillery would be a ramped-up version of mortars, that'd kill the game... any weapons other than the MG would either be useless (like many RPG games have) or overpowered (the BFGs that most games make satirical versons of, now, like miniguns or laser turrets).
True that, ysheth. I've really liked games that go for the ironic position... such as TD games where YOU send in the invaders, games where YOU are the zombie (Sonny isn't the best example, because his being a zombie is just a plot element), games where, instead of being the hero, you're the antagonist. I like games like that, give a little variety.
Oh, and again, STOP !@#$ING ABOUT HOW IT'S HISTORICALLY INNACURATE! Jeez! And if you want to !@#$ about how unrealistic the MG is, why play any game? I mean, zombies? Never. A war between a human space government and religiously radical, racially diverse Covenant? Please...
So stop !@#$ing about the stupid things and play the damn game.
Okay, don't bother commenting if all you're going to say is "WTF BLACK NAVY RIP WHY NAZI!?!?" This game is pretty good, not amazing, but good.
The graphics are GREAT, I don't know why people think that shadow styling is bad graphics. I've seen many good (normally war) games use this style.
The cutscenes were the best part. You're shooting... shooting... bored... then WHAM, it introduces how/why something new is being thrown at you in a very sick way.
Music that plays when you get at 10% health is the best part, IMO ve been chosen better (hate the screech!)
4/5 for D-Day Defender :)
The .50 Barret is a sniper rifle occasionally used by American sniper teams. I say occasionally because it's used only when a vehicle or bulletproof glass is present, because the .50 is both unwieldy, loud, and overkill. Normally, an M10A2 sniper rifle is used with a suppressor, instead, or an M14 sniper variant.
Sick graphics, puzzle, story... 5/5 game right here! Though I wish it would've left on a cliffhanger - like if those hundreds of robots suddenly show up during the launch and shoot you down... that'd would've been sick :)
Ahh, such potential for the plot, an RPG that could evolve into a horror-discovery game... but no, it's a repetetive "run up, shoot while walking backwards, repeat" game. Gah, and the graphics were so nice... 2/5
*sigh* What is this, the 3rd Nano War rip? It's like pretty much everthing on the internet... Youtube videos, synth music compositions, games... if someone does it right, there'll be 50 other people who make minor tweaks, different theme/graphics, and a new name, and suddenly it's theirs.
2/5. Overly simple, towers did crap, enemy AI was an idiot, just... no. Only redeeming value is that it had somewhat nice graphics.
Good graphics and concept... but not really that hard at all. Bosses are ridiculously easy. Also, I've never felt a real need to buy ammo or health or anything, there are so many darn drops you barely ever need to (unless you suck and lose 90% of your health on the first level).
But what bugged me most is that THERE'S NO OPTION MENU!!! Seriously, my computer is old, but on most games if it starts to slow down I can just put it on a lower quality or turn off the special effects. None of that here. Dozens of enemies on the screen, bullet trails, blood spurts and bullet casings take a huge toll on a computer when in high quality. If this game is updated, PLEASE. Add an options panel to turn off some of the effects!
