Funny, charming, and straightforward. That 'f' in the corner when the screen pauses, was this made using Flixel (+sfxr/cfxr)? Very nice piece. I enjoyed it.
It's refreshing to see someone make a game that let's the player figure things out for themselves. The presentation was pretty neat, too, with pleasant surprises and good use of audio. It's a small game, but it has character.
@Aurense: Thanks for that feedback. That "silly example" you mention was actually considered seriously in the form of different companions you can encounter & what each entails. It's something we wanted to do if we had more time. Unfortunately, we already overshot our deadline, so we had to stop. The fact that you & Berzee found the game interesting is very validating for us, though. To be honest, we prioritized making it quirky & different, so we were half expecting to only get backlash (LOL). If we return to expand this concept, your suggestion will be at the top of the list. Thanks for the input & for playing. >:)
@Berzee:
Congrats on reaching an "ending" on your first playthrough. The game is intended as kind of a survival-comedy thing, where "sh*t happens" a lot. Still, the game relies more on skill/understanding than luck, so kudos on beating it.
@Rakekniven, @Nuzurame:
Sorry, if it seemed that way to you. The choices do have impacts, and the game does actually reach a "goal" of sorts. We wanted to make a game that doesn't handhold players, but we may have taken that aspect a bit too far. Regardless, thanks for giving the game a shot & providing feedback.
@Jiberish001:
The rope is supposed to snap when you use it to get out of quicksand. I realize now that it doesn't show that, so I'll ask the artist/designer to make that change.
Regarding "Deviate," yes. The game uses probability to calculate the outcome of each choice you make, so sometimes deviating along a path doesn't lead to a different scenario.
About coconuts, I guess the guy can eat a lot. >:P
Thanks for playing & giving feedback.
About as Zen as it gets in Flash games while still being very fun. It really does invoke some sense of "wonder" as you progress through each new sequence/hole. Wish they sold this as a PC game.
Artistic impression & the level of polish are both completely beyond what I was expecting of a Flash game. The game plays like an interactive short film without much challenge, but I'm guessing that was the developer's intention.
