Eh, I was hoping for some variety between the two factions, but they ended up being pretty much the same.
Shame, it could have easily matched and even surpassed Con Artist's Warfare series
Yep, definitely inspired by Papers, Please and Lemonade Stand, but yet the defining feature of the two games are toned down majorly.
Compared to Papers, Please, its not as 'intense' as there aren't as many things to remember. Also this game is a LOT more forgiving.
Compared to Lemonade Stand, the demand of customers is far more telegraphed and predictable.
I would criticize it for being comparatively easy, but on the other hand I could also appreciate that choice to make it more accessible to all audiences.
At the moment, I just feel like its lacking length, which would allow for later levels with more challenging features, or even a challenge mode. But alas, the scope of a flash game is limited, so this may all be just wishful thinking.
Not sure if its a bug or intended, but on stage 28 you can move twice in mid-air if you press right twice quickly after hitting a box from below using a spring box. This allowed me to clear the stage quite easily.
My god. Even with the difficulty settings, the last two levels are just so insanely difficult. I could only just beat the last level on easy mode, and just cant for the life of me beat it on normal mode. What am I missing???
Definitely one of the finest renditions of this type of game I have ever played, especially with the phenomenal AI design on a seemingly simple game concept.
Would've been nice if scan scrolls also revealed whether or not the enemy could resist bashes, stuns, etc. Some people like me don't notice the ridiculous health bars and damage of bosses and associate them with being immune to negative status ailments.
Not sure about everyone else's experience, but I felt as if it eventually became a grind-fest in order to get the money and war points to get the best ships fully upgraded. I ended up fighting the boss over and over, to lose and get a ridiculous amount of WP from it. The other ships seemed to yield far less WP. Also, after all that grinding the ending felt a bit underwhelming, without even a cut-scene or epilogue to conclude the game.
Kinda underwhelming when you beat the 'final boss'. Hurray you beat the game! Now do it again, with a few more new units and slightly higher levels. It would be cool if you got like a special card for beating bosses, or even if there were more bosses! And if there are, I either neglected a message telling me there was or there wasn't one.
I kinda got stunlocked with two of those large cactus monsters in "Ye Olde Hideout", then got stuck in one of the green bullet-shooting blocks (in mid air, continuously spinning).
Thanks a lot for the feedack good idea! :D
