I like the idea, but the issue I have is the controls. I think you need to be able to be slightly more precise with the movements instead of needing to hold the arrow away from your direction. Just less momentum can go a long way.
I reloaded game on Firefox+Chrome with my 2 computers and looks ok, in last update you can see over the manual save button the last save date on this session.
Wouldn't upgrading to a new OS free up some space from the previous OS? e.g. If you had one that took up 3 MB and the next one took up 5 MB, wouldn't the increase really be 2 and not 5?
Or is the space needed meant to be the difference between the two? (Wherein the example would really need 8 MB of space.)
A few tips for the final badge. 1) Get all the upgrades. 2) Ignore the coins, they're worth no points. 3) Go for the guys who shoot first (PURPLE star, ORANGE and RED towers) and just dodge everyone else. 4) Use your berzerk as often as possible. If there aren't many enemies on the screen wait a few and use it, especially when a lot of shooting enemies are around. 5) Strafe on the sides facing in towards the middle. If an enemy is on the very edge of the side you're strafing, switch sides. It took me three tries using this strategy to get the final badge and the level took just under 10 minutes to get from 0 to 150,000 points. Good luck!
Sooooo if you run into red cars you can go super super fast and if you run into purple cars you slow down? That's so unrealistic! Everyone knows it's the other way around.
The "Mystery Upgrade" upon contact with the ground, causes your paper airplane to turn into origami versions of the hedgehog from "Hedgehog Launch", the penguin from "Learn to Fly" or the turtle from "Toss the Turtle" symbolizing three other similar games. At first this seems pointless, but your new abused animal will bounce like they do in the other games. This can glean a few hundred more meters from those long flights, maybe more.
This game reminds me a lot of Patapon. I happen to love that game and think you did an excellent job making a fun flash version that isn't an outright port.
Good game. Obviously a little repetitive but at least it gets harder as it goes. (however slight the curve is)
One bug: If you have no elevator shaft behind your guy it appears you continue to get warped to the right side of the screen making it difficult to shoot the enemies. My suggestion is to keep buying elevators so your full up...even if you can't afford to put anything good in it.
Work your way up to lasers in all of the elevators and you'll be fine.
Congratulations! You just won the Four Minute Frenzy Badge and 30 points!
Got it with 226 seconds!! That Contra one is not fun. I didn't have to hold shift but sometimes it would work and sometimes it just wouldn't.
Great idea. Great implementation. Graphics are not jaw-dropping but I suppose I can't expect much from a flash game.
My only issue is the timer. I'm not interested in making the game too easy. Sure, puzzle mode is without a timer but the feeling of puzzle mode is a little different than the other.
Overall though, great game: 4/5
I played this game when it first came out (or around that time) and I liked it then. I gave it a 4/5 at the time.
The only thing I thought it was missing was badges. Now it's got them so I've elevated it to 5/5.
Love the graphics. Love the music. Love the gameplay.
As for those complaining about "bad words" I believe they're looking too much into it. I'm failing to see the bad words (other than "badass") and as for the racial slurs the worst I'm seeing is "jew" and I hardly consider that racist.
But maybe I'm just the type of person who doesn't hear racial slurs on a regular basis.
Big Bubbles 1.04 is now out with more responsive controls! Sorry it took so long.
