Unfortunately the protestors, construction site, and employee all look incredibly similar, and require very different behavior. Either those shouldn't be timed or they should be differentiated better. My preference would be for not timed, since those three are the only interaction that's required during play, and to make it such quick reaction really makes it some uneven gameplay with this waitwaitwaitGOGOGO feeling.
