STRANGE BUG, P.S.: In addition to what I just mentioned about the runaway jester, I should add that the "battle order" list indicates a cruel wraith, though there doesn't appear to be one on the screen at all.
STRANGE BUG: The Jester ran off the screen during the final battle in the observatory, thus freezing the game on his turn and preventing any further progress. The only solution seems to be to restart/refresh. To elaborate on the circumstances, I had killed all the poison wraiths and had him surrounded when he just took off walking through the walls and across the black area, never to be seen again.
I've watched the linked video of the author beating the expert zombie defense, but it didn't give me any insight on how I could reproduce his results, and insight is precisely what we need. The author/creator knows the value system and specific mechanics of the game, and without that information, beating it on expert level is an exercise in futility.
Is there a guide or a wiki for this game? If so, it would be great to have the link posted in the Description or Updates. If not, it's a pity, because it would be nice to have a recipe list for the pet gel in the tavern.
Like others, I still come by to collect daily tickets and check for updates. However, without any clues as to when the expansion might come, it's hard to sustain enough interest to keep up the effort. I think many of us would feel better about it (and would be more likely to keep checking in) if the developer(s) would announce some approximate date for the updates, even if that date were to change several times before the actual expansion upgrade.
HassuKassu, let me qualify my earlier comment about a defense option; what I had in mind was a "defend" action that would actually raise your defense (or possibly agility) in lieu of attack for 1 turn, and not just a "skip turn" type of defense option. For example, when low on HP and facing 3 strong enemies who are attacking at once and while waiting for your heal spell(s) to recharge, such an alternative could be a viable gambit.
Its a possibility, I'll consider it, but I'm just not 100% sold on the idea. There is a wish ability that raises your defense, and it's actually quite powerful.
There's a kill-screen type of glitch in the 3rd row/2nd column area. I've tried the level at least five times, and every time there's a ghost-enemy in the long hut who only appears if you view him through a window. However, he can't be hit through the window (even at point-blank range), and if you enter the hut, he disappears altogether. Therefore, he can't be hit at all, and yet his presence precludes level completion. I believe the root of the error is that he's standing on a "red space", which means that he's actually inside a wall.
The stamina requirement of 40 per set is a little steep. Personally, I feel that a standard of about 10 - 15 (with 20 or 25 in upper tier rounds) would do the trick.
I understand you want to see some profit from this, but I would suggest that the current stamina costs are actually counter-productive in this regard. You need to allow people to get drawn in and invest some time playing before they'll generally feel inclined to invest their money. At present, one is simply cut off after two rounds at most, which really ends up feeling more like a tease than enough gameplay to whet one's appetite for more. As a result, people will play a round or two and leave as quickly as they came, rather than sticking around to buy gems and keep going. That's my feeling, anyway, but otherwise it's a good product.
Well, this is an improvement over selfdefiant's previous entries, but when one only makes one game over and over, it's bound to improve a bit with time. So, while there are no surprises here, at least the tedious "purple orb" concept has finally been scrapped. The soundtrack's a little better this time, too. Otherwise, well, it's a selfdefiant game, and if you've played one...
I seem to have encountered a glitch in the fire temple. At one point, the screen froze up and I had to refresh the page. Once I had reloaded, I found that every part of the screen was blacked out except for the view. As such, it is impossible to perform any action (e.g., give attack commands or check inventory, etc.) except movement. I'm sorry to say that Ive reloaded several times now only to find that the game seems to have stuck that way. Until this glitch is fixed, I will not be able to continue my game.
This game is outstanding. I've been playing it since it first appeared, and why it's been treated so unfairly in terms of ratings is entirely beyond my understanding. This is easily a 5-star entry.
As for the question of whether or not to post a walkthrough, I feel it would only serve to enhance the experience, so I vote "yes".
REALLY needs a "toggle quality" option! For those of us playing on clunkers, the frame-per-minute lag is prohibitive of anything remotely resembling gameplay.
MISSABLE ITEM!!!: Before exiting the ship, take the LIGHTER from the locker in the barracks. It can be used in the cave to light a torch, revealing a secret room containing special ARMOR and a HELMET. Once you leave the ship, you won't be able to return, so be sure to take the lighter before you go!
HAR! When you complete the quest for Michelle the, uh, "working girl", she rewards you with a "free one" and THEN hands you 3 medikits! Oh, man, that can NOT be a good sign!
The game, however, is great. Unfortunately, I think it's been underrated so far.
2 SUGGESTIONS:
(1) How about the ability to enchant/add properties to items using alchemy or whatnot, such as endowing a weapon with "poison" or "hit%+"? All I've seen so far are cooking recipes to change item color and other visual aspects, but not qualities.
(2) How about giving the house uprgades and/or furniture some sort practical application, like a "max hp" boost, for example?
Its a possibility, I'll consider it, but I'm just not 100% sold on the idea. There is a wish ability that raises your defense, and it's actually quite powerful.
