Gameplay is nice, but I thought the story didn't make much sense. You pass someone walking down the street, and they hand you a gun and ask you to kill them because they're horribly depressed. You'd just... do it? I don't care if the person happens to be a robot, it's still kind of dumb.
If you aren't healing, try deleting your current game and starting a new one. It worked for me. Still, I encountered several other major glitches along the way. Occasionally being able to bypass combat encounters without needing to pass the flee check, instant death in combat when at full health, occasionally not healing when arriving at a town... that and the ghost ship having 30 HP so I one-shot it. What a battle indeed... Also, whether a city will kick my ass or vice versa seems to be more or less random, even accounting for tech level and population... It definitely could have used a bit more testing, but the basic concept and core gameplay are sound.
If you're supposed to heal automatically when reaching the city then, well, it's not happening for me and judging from a lot of the comments not for some others either. I've reached the point where any buccaneer encounter is instantly deadly if I don't manage to flee before the fight starts. Sad, because this would be a great game otherwise.
Great old-school adventure game. It's a pity stuff like this always loses out to more casual genres like tower defense and survival games in the monthly ratings.
Kongregate is not a site for shareware. I loved the older episode, but if the creator is going to use this site as little more than ad space I have to give this version a 1.
Great concept and promising work done towards a full game, but it feels like a demo. 3/5 for now, flesh it out a little more (I agree with many of the suggestions that have already been made) and it could deserve a five.
There needs to be a way to change the controls, or the kick and punch moved to another pair of keys. Those of us on certain European keyboard layouts have Z on the top row, under 6 and 7. Makes things frustrating to say the least, and I'm not switching layouts just to play it.
