This game is way too repetitive and plateaus too early. I farmed a couple boss stages, maxed my loadout after level 5, and then coasted through the rest of the levels.
I needed 38 more Red Andrew Reapers. I counted 50 and finally let myself die to get the kills to register.
99/100. Apparently they weren't all Red Andrew Reapers. I hate this game.
"Gee, I got the easy badge back in 2011. Why did I stop at 28/29 for the medium badge?" 16 tries in, I have every achievement except the '25 tries' achievement. Ugh.
I was curious what your time in the forest would have seemed like in tree years...turns out, three or four years is barely two weeks to something that can live to be 10,000!
It takes about 75 obstacles to clear level 4 and 100 to clear level 5. Might help to count if you're getting frustrated by the lack of in-game progress tracker.
The fourth boss is difficult because of poor game mechanics. This is the mark of a poor game. Your strongest units inexplicably choose to walk past the boss rather than battle him, he destroys traps with his attacks, and your units walk in slow single file, weakest first. Sure, you can eventually beat him. But it takes multiple tries because you don't expect the game to actively hinder you.
If you're having trouble with any height/specific letter/avoided letter challenges, restart until your starting suffix is 'ing'. Make a list of 20 'ing' words with k and w (or without s or e). This will make several challenges much easier, and give you a nice time buffer for the height challenges.
Wow, this game is great! Really original concept, easy to learn, and well-balanced - it's still challenging to 'beat' even once you've gotten unlimited fuel. I also like how the graphics are nice, but not distractingly over-the-top. My one problem was being really confused the first time I exploded, but it wasn't hard to figure out that I should pay attention to my fuel the second game.
To beat the first level in 6 turns:
1. Put 5 armies in S. Europe. Attack the Middle East with 5 armies.
2. Put 4 armies in S. Europe and 1 in the Middle East. Attack Ukraine with 4 armies and India with all your Middle East armies.
3. Put 10 armies in India. Attack Siam with all your India armies.
4. Put 10 armies in Siam. Attack Indonesia with all your Siam armies.
5. Put 10 armies in Indonesia. Attack New Guinea and Western Australia, using 4 or 5 armies on the country with 1 army and the rest of your armies on the other.
6. Split your armies between New Guinea and Western Australia so that you have almost equal numbers in each. Attack Eastern Australia with all armies from both countries. Done!
If you lose two armies on the first turn, start over (you can actually still win in 6 turns, but it's less likely). If you fail to take over any country, start over. Steps 4 and 5 are the most likely to fail, but you should still get a gold star in 3 or 4 tries with this method.
