My strategy, you say? Simple. Upgrade to a medium crossbow asap, then upgrade all catapults asap, then upgrade the first support archers tier.
Avoid the Broadhead arrowpoint and go for Bodkin. Get composite arrows.
The rest is pretty damn easy, as supports can be used to kill lumps of soldiers, explosive carts and rams.
