I've noticed that some towers will not shoot or at least have a lower fire rate at certain points. This happens a lot with the "slingshot" tower in particular, which makes it a lot less effective. It seems to happen when it's targeting an opponent, who then flies out of range as the tower is about to shoot and it then takes a while to pick a new target. I just had a large wave fly right past the tower because it stopped shooting after a while. On other occasions the tower has kept firing, but at a much lower rate of fire. This probably applies to other towers as well, but I've noticed it the most with the "slingshot" tower - possibly because I usually only have a few of those, which makes a performance decrease very noticeable.
The party controls (or rather; lack of) are absolutely dreadful. For large parts of the game this is OK, but for the boss that uses AOE it's incredibly frustrating.
@MaddAddams: You don't have to do anything other than click the links in the game. As soon as the new window opens, you get the star - you can close it right away without doing anything with it. At least that's what I did in this game and any previous game using this 'method' of gaining additional skill points.
@Chronicler: Indeed, and setting up restrictions for yourself (such as no drones, no reactors etc.) makes many levels quite interesting and the start even more important.
@Malice12: You're giving a game a poor score because YOU can't figure out a level? The trick is not letting the opponent capture any of the empty nodes. Don't go for the big one immediately, but focus on the two smaller empty ones.
Finished it and didn't get a badge. Started a new game and clicked "walkthrough" to see if I'd missed anything and when I returned to the game my badge had been awarded. No idea what happened, but maybe others can get it the same way.
@Soulcatcher1: First of all, all the maps are tested without the use of special agents and special buildings. The one today is no different; you don't need anything that requires MM. If you have the right tactic, it's actually very easy once you get past wave 34. If you however go back and complete dailies from a long time ago you might need stuff that requires MM, because towers have been nerfed since then.
So, you can go on for years and years in this game, but you'll actually never improve, as research is reset between each season? I sort of understand the reason for that, but you need to implement some other way to keep the game exciting then. In it's current state is decent to play through for one season (which doesn't take long), but then you've pretty much seen it all and there's nothing else to do. Cool idea, but definitely need a lot of work.
Thanks for the review Wowi - I take your points on board and this is really just a bit of a test of the AI engine with a very basic championship engine bolted on. We'll see how this goes and then add alongside research a 'driver aids' research set - Driver Aids would be able to be brought from season to season. Sometimes driver aids will be banned from being able to be used for a season (F-Duct?). Also two drivers with pitstops / refuelling / tyre strategy would also be in a sequel if people can see enough potential for a sequel in this game... Thanks again!
If you're going to make a football game you might want to get at least one aspect right. You know, the football. If you're not going to bother making a proper engine to simulate the game just do text-based matches. The current matches only highlights how poorly this game is made really and as the matches are a big part of football it's very hard to look beyond that.
Great idea for a TD game, but level bosses are way too easy because they don't move when attacking. They can essentially be killed with just a few units, as they will keep the boss in the same spot due to respawn rate. Levels are a bit too easy to complete I think. Would also like to see a bit higher steady income from levels you've won. And of course a longer game, so I'm hoping for a Demonrift 2. ;)
5/5 though for the creativity and a very entertaining game.
I don't get why people complain about the short circuit. If it wasn't for that the game wouldn't really have any sort of challenge. Just buy the shock protection and only the deep ones will hurt you.
As for not being able to retract: Just get the magnet and you don't need to.
Great game in my opinion.
