this may just be a coincidence, but it appeared that enemies started randomly taking damage after i bought the spear. i later noticed that spears that had missed an enemy, and so were stuck in the ground, dissapeared whenever an enemy took damage the way i had witnessed.
@greenkoi (and anyone with that problem): just spam directional keys until it frees up. that exact thing happens all the time on lots of games, and the way to fix it is always the same
amazing game. only thing i dislike about it is the fact that there are 6 different notes that must be hit, and the default key setup is rather cramped. oh, and the fact that I only have 4 fingers (excluding thumb) to work with! :c

I could really use a hint button. it seems i'm stuck in the basement...? is this supposed to be? I understand that the bird lied, but... where's the dore bell? how do I get out of the basement? where's his sister? this is a really amazing game, but it leaves too many questions.
I find this interesting. the path of obeying reminds me a lot of the stripped-down version of modern-day Christianity. doing whatever "the unknown" commands ultimately leads to what some might interpret as heaven, or enlightenment. however, the path of disobeying that unknown being seems to fill your life with color, and understanding for the world around you.
