I'd like some kind of inventory I can return my parts to when I'm redesigning.

Side note, I like the game. Not bashing the rest of the mechanics, but 300 clicks on the focus button to max it seems excessive. I think 60 would be reasonable. I think the amount of time you cap at seems high, in general. I find myself resetting (and playing actively) far less time than focus caps at. Maybe 1/5 the time max and 1/5th the clicks to max it to keep the balance roughly. Maybe start it at a minute max, 1 second per click, keep the scaling exactly where it is otherwise. Just a suggestion.

Making someone click a thing 300 times is a bad mechanic.

On tier three after the supposed changes fix whatever progression issues the game has. Spoilers, they don't.

An inventory button (I like e), a button to press to push the item to the combiner would be swell. The tiles to place items in are small and a shortcut would be handy. The mechanics of this game are a real pleasure. It's been a blast grinding up gear. Looking forward to future developments.

Contrary to what it says, the SICKER mutation actually helps with population stability after obtaining medicine in ample supply for your whole population. When the population lives beyond 65 it quits working - SICKER keeps your population young and fit to work, keeping your population working % above 50. The only thing SICKER does to your population is clear out the elderly faster, allowing new babies to be born. Use this to your advantage by adding small amounts to BIRTH RATE to quickly rise to max population, but reduce it to zero when half your food consumption per year is reached to avoid a massive generation gap. SICKER will prevent the generation gap from being large.

Sorry, to clarify previous comment: Don't turn off ALL mutations, just the ones you're not using. While using AGGRESSIVE and at war, you want to be sure that a percentage [can be a relatively small %, like 1%] of your genes remain in Research, you need SMARTER to progress into the very late game stages. Research from war is one of the slower resources to make your own production obsolete.

My current strategy is: use EFFICIENCY when building anything. Use STRONGER early to get wood quickly. Rush to research worker management, buy all the lowest cost farm efficiency and farm worker upgrades. Use worker management to keep at least 1% in woodworking, rely on mutation to supply inordinate wood and reduce costs through EFFICIENCY. Rush to buy tool/medicine/car production and micromanage population to supply everyone. Rush to research and use SMARTER to quickly obtain knowledge (same way you did wood). Once you produce enough for everyone (and excess), work on getting efficiency so high that all your work stations are filled. Then go to war with AGGRESSIVE and turn off other mutations. Go until you can't provide enough tools/medicine/cars, then keep going to war in all directions. When you can't afford any war-related research, you hit a "wall". Split your genes [50/50?] into BIRTH and DEATH, this will cause you to rapidly gain Mutation. Wait. Eventually ascend. Rinse repeat.

Not too far into my 3rd "ascend" with around 40b genes, and I just came up with a suggestion - is there any way to reduce "billion", "trillion", "quadrillion" (et al) to either alphabetical or scientific shorthand? The numbers are getting cut off. I can't see my gains per year because they get pushed off of the mini-window.

I've noticed something weird when going to war - if you lose the fight, sometimes instead of resting for 8 years and restoring to full power, your army fights at a fraction of what it's supposed to, like it's taking less weapons after a rest. It doesn't happen every time, but it's pretty damn annoying. After a rest, your next wave of soldiers should restock, regardless of whether the previous army lost. wtfo.

I would hate to side with "mysticpickle" with similar brevity, but I agree this game is a tad pointless. That being said, all video games could be called "pointless", it doesn't make them less fun. Yeah, it is a bit daft, but I enjoy unlocking things, and it has this strangely addictive quality. A lot of the achievements are extremely creative, I particularly enjoyed "Floating corpse". My major beef is that the elephant seems to fall off of squares in illogical positions, that the hit detection seems a little counter intuitive (or off). Above all, though, I've got this nasty control lag that prevents me from performing accurate movement. In any platformer, it's a source of major frustration when you can't figure out how to reliably stop on a dime. It's probably just my crappy work computer. That being said, I won't rate this game. Biased reviews shouldn't be allowed to count against creative works, not even mine. :o
