Regarding the story: It's poor form to have a retconning moment ("Remember that garbled transmission we received?") that could easily be included in the beginning of the story. In this case especially, such information would add to the sense of confusion and panic that happens early on, and the player will *almost* forget about it by the time it's brought back up, creating the sense that the narrative is carefully constructed. As it is, though, it feels slapped together in that moment.
There are some issues with respawning. When you die now, the screen flies to one end of the map, and then suddenly you're jerked back to the spawn point with the screen uncentered. I don't know the point of this "fix".
A couple of things. First, Ua Faelain is correct. I'm on Firefox and still experiencing the "Chrome only" delays. Second, if you're Kongregate/GameStop, HOW do you make a card challenge out of a) a buggy game and b) a game that espouses specific religious views? Poor taste, poor judgment.
1) It's easy to hit the Hints and Tips button when scrambling to use an Attack.
2) The lack of autosave makes caring for pets important, but it also makes it tempting to ragequit when you have a run of XP farming and your critter falls prey to the following:
3)TWICE I've lost critters to an invisible opponent. Once a snake and once a scorpion. I tried to attack where my creature was attacking, but I couldn't see the foe nor swing at it. I could see the little red square in the map in the upper right corner. This might be a feature, but it seems like a weird one.
My proposed fix for (2) is that if a creature dies, the player must carry the creature back to town if he/she wants to save the creature. The creature could take up a bunch of inventory slots.
the "campaign mode" should be retitled as an "introduction." i have rarely been so annoyed by a game. all of the interruptions while i was trying to play--GAH! 1---- will not play again.
Nice Galaga-style game. Possibly consider the following:
- background images to fly past
- wider array of enemy images
- wider array of shot images (so it isn't always the hyphen-shot)
- upgrades to ships as well as weapons
I like that all the powerups fade over time, so you can't just camp on the ultrashot spread and expect to destroy everyone. Nice!
i'm enjoying the game, but i have a difficult time with enemies who linger on the edges of the play box. my "slash" keeps on running the mouse off the edge of the playing field, and thus samurai jack just stands there until i frantically click to cancel the initial slash, and then take my time drawing a "precision slash," which usually takes too long and then i'm dead.
other than that, great game :-)
Excellent idea; too much flash animation lag, and no option to decrease the quality of the graphics or turn off the unnecessary portion of the animation (the concentric circles). 3/5 for effort.
i'm enjoying this game quite a bit-- the only problem is that the save / continue function doesn't always work. i beat most of the "western" island at home yesterday, and now at work i have to beat those rounds again. *sigh*. still, though, i really enjoy it.
