One of the modifiers you can take is "start with an extra equipment slot, but -15 chips". Coincidentally, buying your first new equipment slot costs 15 chips. So... what is the point of this modifier, exactly? Just locking you into what is effectively a turn1 purchase and nothing else?
I was really impressed by the final boss battle. I tried really hard to "break" it by freeing the girl without taking the enemy queen, but there is just no way. I got all the pawns except the last one too, but after that point you can't stop the queen from protecting the final white pawn, so there is no way to take it without dying.
Could use an option to return to start - I had to go through one of the challenges a second time after starting it again. (It wasn't THAT bad thanks to all the doors being open, but still.)
Some hints for anyone stuck on level -1.
To progress, there can't be anything with life on the screen, and you have to turn off the music. I think the music requirement is pretty intuitive, but eh.
This game has a beautiful style, which makes its shortcomings in other ways all the more tragic.
The cards aren't properly balanced, and if there is deeper gameplay than just "pick the strongest card available" there is no explanation of such ingame. Also, the main way to get upgrade points is to repeatedly left-click something, which makes progress feel worthless.
For extra challenge, try playing this on "pacifist" mode. Other then the boss at the end and a single green thing blocking a passage-way in the beginning, you actually don't need to kill any of the enemies! It sure does make things harder, though...
I like CCGs, and the reviews for this game were great, so I had high hopes for this game. Sadly, at this point I'm an hour-plus in and I have yet to actually see any strategy. Battles don't have any player interaction, so most of the game is me just sitting there watching the game go by at 10x speed. I'm assuming the actual gameplay is supposed to be in the deckbuilding, but I don't have enough cards for that to be meaningful yet.
How long am I supposed to "play" before I get to the gameplay?
yrudoy, have you tried advancing in the arena or coliseum against other players? I think you will find that there is a lot of strategy in the deckbuilding aspect of the game. The game is very generous with both gold and gems, so it shouldn't take you long to get a decent collection together to get to the 'meat' of the game. Agreed though, we need to work on the early experience and make this more apparent somehow.
I really wish there was a way to make the squad advance faster - by my third run, I was spending most of the first 300M facing waves of enemies punctuated by relatively long periods of waiting.
We reduced slot prices from 20 to 15, and forgot to adjust this modifier. Next version it will be -10 chips
