play something else! sooner or later the dragon den will not open any more and you will be stuck .. and out for your time and clicks. i kept backups. there did/does not seem to be a way to circumvent the bug. dont do what i did; find something else to play!
player 2209 sez: lovely 'find objects' game. creative and easy to view, probably makes you smarter too. took 21 enjoyable mins to get 168/245 hearts. will/would play again. ends with a board to match gems on. that was a surprise and it made a nice ending.
more on mission 2: place 15ish howitzers half or up to a planet width toward the enemy in a stack. put a stack of 5ish repair behind them. and a stack of 8ish interceptors behind those and you. build population on your planets as a buffer. now ur defended.
make 3 stacks like this to attack as well. howitzers, repair, interceptors. approach the enemy stepping slow as you get near so that you draw and zap most of its fighters and interceptors before its howitzers get yours. unfog the attack lanes and you won't get surprised. ai is persistent, not creative when targeting, eg you can move up troops. learn when the 1 time convoy comes and restart if you loose the 2nd planet. this got me m2 in just under an hr.
thanks for confirming that freezing happens in chrome also! i'm getting it on ffox and since that's often the culprit was just thinking of starting over in chrome, then moving my save file. now i dont need to ;)
once you 'get' the interface, the shopping for upgrades becomes a sweet distraction until you have a winning ship - at which point there's nothing more to do. -- 5/5 for the game as a platform. 4/5 for the movies you can play in your head & 1/5 for cause there's not an actual 'game' here.
by 1) load up in the market-place, 2) trade once with every-port on the map, 3) trade with 1 or 2 ports a second-time to close things out, 4) ending the day right then and there --- without ever firing a shot! you can get enough money to upgrade everything you might want to inside 40-ish days. trade-loot scales as you progress. and the upgrades really matter and help to get around. use 'i'. press 'm' a lot .. and after 40-ish 8 minute trading days have fun with the quests and stuff; its a nice tactical shooter then!
a mage and a shielder to protect her, lets you punch through with ease but the animations take so damn long that you do nothing half the time. needs keyboard controls and a fast fast-mode.
dont play this game like the youtubers. its a rogue-like, and a very good one at that. i've won the campaign twice now with just a few throwaway characters to learn the ropes. you never need to die. once i sacrificed 2 days to do extra dungeons for xp, the other time 3 days. the first one was a rogue who built up his xtra classes, the second one (hurray!!) a mage. i might yet figure out how to get to perfectio, but sacrifice a few children on your way to the final campaign dungeon and pay close attention to the stats shown in inventory and extra weapon procs and you'll be fine. i could not work out how magic worked for the longest time, so maybe do what i did and run melee throw away characters until you get a feel for when to raise what stat. heck, sacrifice all the children by doing extra dungeons if you must and laugh with me at how powerful you get if you can manage to play this like a 4ish hour rogue-like.
