Looks pretty and is fun if you just want to smack the ball around, but the perspective is absolutely horrible for actually aiming. Isometric views, depth perception, and precision just don't go together. Still, very nice game if played just for fun, not score.
The first few levels are pretty fun, if requiring a little luck to get the achievements. Somewhere towards the end of normal level pack and into the hard ones, the game becomes an RNG with a GUI more than a game. Will you win or lose? Who knows! Roll the dice and find out, then restart the level a few 100 times until it works. Luck-based and random gameplay: for when you can't be bothered to have good game design.
I really wish that the text boxes would quit popping up to tell me the games are getting harder in challenge. It really throws me off more than any of the multi-tasking, and there's already an indicator that things are getting tougher (the flash every 20 seconds). Lose the pop ups and let the game flow, please? Otherwise, great, challenging game.
I was playing just fine for a while, but suddenly when I try to start a battle, I can't select my deck, so I'm stuck on that screen. Refreshing hasn't helped. Bugs aside, the game isn't very interesting. There's an illusion of strategy, but really you just need a lot of gold and peons to zerg the enemy with. Assuming your game doesn't glitch out, it ends up being rather simple to win, if a bit time consuming.
Ugh for the love of...that's several times now the game has glitched out and killed me. Once the screen would freeze at random off and on, but gameplay was still going on. I could play, but not see anything that was happening. Eventually my luck ran out. This time the screen started "sliding" as I was walking and suddenly my health dropped to zero in a second (I was nowhere near any enemies, I'd killed them all). In both cases, the screen goes black and nothing else happens. I wish these kind of bugs would get sorted out earlier, makes going for the badge difficult when poor coding screws me over at floor 13.
Fun game in concept, but luck based games are never my cup of tea. Having to rely on a random number generator for victory instead of my own skill always makes me feel less like I'm playing a game, and more like clicking a button until the stars align and I win. Still, very fun on the low difficulties.
Uh, I think I ran into a bug on the pistol challenge. I got 97.4% accuracy, but my rating says I engaged 5 targets and missed 38? Isn't that a little backwards? I think the score is still adding up properly, for now (I got 40240 for that round). Nice game, challenges are rather difficult, if only there weren't so many bugs.
The impossible badge would be unreasonably difficult by any standard if not for the fact you can back up your save file. Nothing like having one bad day of enemies completely ruining hours and hours of work Game is rather fun, if difficult, when played for a laugh, but screw that impossible badge. I'll get it yet though.
I have no idea why any upgrade system exists in this game when no matter how much you upgrade a unit, they have as good a chance to do 1 damage as a fresh bought unit has to do over 100. The randomness in this game is absolutely hideous and severely detracts from what could have been a good game, in theory.
Great concept, horrible execution, primarily in the jumping controls. Nowhere has it been more apparently for me so far than level 28. There's a series of low hanging spikes that you must jump under, and no matter how lightly/quickly I tap jump, it seems to be a toss up as to whether I'll perform a low jump or a life ending high jump. Wall jumps don't help in this section of course. Oh and also there's no checkpoint so if you screw up (you will), it's back to the start of the level.
It's a fine line between challenge and poor design. Do try to fall on the right side of it next time.
You know, I really do love the concept in this game and it's sort of fun to fool around with, but at the same time I absolutely despise luck-based gameplay with almost 0 chance to influence the outcome. The number of times the random number god has screwed me (and clearly many others, noting the Madagascar memes) is just plain obscene. If only there was some skill aspect to the game rather than "do your best to improve your odds and pray". I just want so bad to be able to sing the game's praises, but not as it is.
Anyone having trouble with the badges, they will submit...eventually. Just keep the window open for a rather long while. I waited about 10 minutes on the submit screen for the medium, then eventually went to work on hard mode, the medium badge finally submitted halfway through the 3rd level. Waiting on the hard badge to go through now...
This game wouldn't be quite as frustrating if the targets scrolled a bit differently. The way new ones pop up in between your shots makes it hard to clear those targets that are nearest the bottom, which are the ones that are about to kill your challenge mode meter. Between that and the difficult targetting system to begin with, the game just isn't as fun as it could be. Good concept, very poor execution.
Is there any way to make this game not be a laggy piece of crap? It's kinda hard to play a rhythm game that stutters and stops on 50% of the notes. I see a fun game hidden in here, but the lack of optimization makes hitting notes with any regularity all but impossible. Nice try, I guess.
It really is odd that this is the only game in the protector series without badges on this site, especially since it has a rating over 4 (seemingly a rarity for badged games lately).
The game is a fun defense/strategy game like its kin, like the levelling system, hopefully one of these days it'll get a bit more recognition.
FCG may need some tweaking yet...I had only one green crawler in my deck, but somehow I got 4 of them in my hand during play? That...doesn't seem normal. I don't recall the crawler having any powers like multiplying themselves. otherwise, pretty fun. Now if only I new how to get that new secret achievement...but that's a secret isn't it? :)
Wow, this game is horribly bug ridden. Several times when I kill multiple enemies at once, I've either lost all my kills, been warped somewhere else (like say, the shop when I was in ultimate survivor), dropped off the map into oblivion, or had the game just reset on me. I can't believe this used the be the quality of game that was recognized around here.
While I agree that games shouldn't get badges simply for revenue purposes, I have to say I didn't experience any of the serious bugs others did. Perhaps I was fortunate, but it wasn't an outright terrible game, just not all that special. Worthy of badges? Maybe, maybe not, though there are worse out there with some. I suppose the point giveaway is a reasonable compromisse. Shame that this one had to stir up so much controversy. Hopefully future badged games will be thought through a bit more.
I think there may be something wrong with the +100 insta-progress in the bonus shop. I bought 2 and I swear it only gave me 20 progresses, if that. I'll check the numbers in my achievements next time I get enough green coins so that I can confirm this.
