the opium wars would have never occurred if all the opium smugglers ran out of money as fast as they do in this game.

I don't like the fact that I have to buy the tea to fulfill Britain's orders, and they just take it and leave at an enormous loss to my gloriously simple black market.

tip, if you buy buy buy buy opium when its reasonable, then the prices will sky rocket. just avoid buying for a while, and it will sky dive down to next to nothing. buy buy buy and it will rocket and dive again

This is a pretty great game. Gets really hard in the end and I usually go bankrupt in 1838 but it's still pretty fun. Wish we could get profit on shipping the tea to Britain though instead of just getting money from deals.

by the final tea order every time, no money/no time/prices extremely high/order prices about a quarter of the value of the opium. whoever taught you the workings of a trade system failed.

This game is beautiful, atmospheric, and quite polished. Props. In terms of gameplay, though, how is this not Drug Wars, but without the excitement of fights? It's like "Work: The Game." How did this get 4 stars?

Fantastic game! I'm not quite sure how the learning curve is steep but it would help for clearer instructions that seemed rushed. It's refreshing to see a game that tries to incorporate history and make it fun. Took me just a few minute or two to get the hang of how to play and from there its smooth sailing. Wonderful game. :D

Why would I go through the trouble of buying all that tea and then give it away?? People don't NEED tea, so it isn't like I'm helping anyone. I just don't get it.

oh great the get out of captured free card made me lose a boat, the prices decided they didn't like me so they skyrockted to 100 i managed to lose 30k and i didn't make the final shipment! hurrahhh

Great concept for a game, but it really needs an unlimited mode, rewards for faster delivery of tea and perhaps other commodities. 4/5 for this though

Really nice game, there should like be a story mode, and a sondbox mode. And there should be added other things to trade from china, for example the english were also interested in Porcelain from china.. maybe a chance of shipwrecking, pirates... and a more real stock market depending on Supply and demand theory.. also the fact that bengal was a british colony, maybe you should have the power to change things in the colony, sometimes the could be good weather conditons sometimes bad, should also interfere with the time it takes to sail between the places...

I raged so hard because of this game. I was doing awesome, had plenty of cash opium and tea, but then like 4-5 times in a short time I got busted on +90$ deals for more then 40 crates each time.

So ok i got -6 voted*sigh* kids...?probally i should explain why i give it 1/5
As i said, the gameplay is boring, i playd til i got my third Ship, the gameplay is totally repetive and theres even no challenge in there...so thats no good game.

Nicely done, but I'd be really interested in a bigger game with more player involvement. Early on you have to hope for good deals. Later on you are just constantly buying tea or you lose. Especially if you're unlucky with the events, that's just frustrating. Larger timescale could give more time for the real "business" part. Having some influence on prices would also help. And I feel trading 'risky' is too much of a luck factor; sometimes I get five of them without losing a ship, other times I lose a ship on each. Possibly an 'upgrades' system would be a more interesting money sink instead of tea demands (which again seem to be a huge luck factor... whether tea prices float around 20 or around 70 seems hard to influence). In short, I like the game, but it feels like it could be much more still.

There needs to be an option to sell extra boats whenever the player wants, not just when prompted to do so. Also, it doesn't make any sense that there's no profit from the tea. I can understand it maybe trading down to a smaller amount than the player pays for it, but that money disappearing makes no sense.

I finally realized that the profit you make is from selling tea to britain. Although I expected the guy to use this profit to buy some extra tea. Oh well, what's the fun in that.

haha, i wanted to build an empire. I had 5 ships and 20k but when tea hit 9 coin I bought so much it went up to 90. We'll I wasn't about to give up 2500 per 30 units of tea so I let those damn brits wait. I was rollin!
Stupid Queen shut me down :(

There's a glitch in the game where you keep playing past the ten years. Nothing happens when the British public opinion turns against you, so you have all the time you want to wait for the price of tea to drop. I had 75,000 silver saved before I realized the ten years were long up and I was fetching 810 cases of tea. That's a thirsty population.

I'd love a "Cancel Shipment" button. There have been so many times where I sent my one little ship out, and then a better deal pops up, and I'm left sitting there going FFFUUUUUUU-

This is an addicting, good game, but it's so harsh that you have to give them tea when they want. And of course, there should be some profit and bonusses. Still good.

aparantly i shipped 696 billion cups worth of tea. i did the maths quickly, and over a ten year period, with the population of britain being roughly 8 million in those days, we're talking an average of over 20 cups a day for every man, woman and child...i can't help but feel that our tea addiction is maybe being a touch overstated :P
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
hmm let me see here, okay... so if 4 bricks of opium go for 99 silver, but 7 go for 70 then i have to multiply to- wait a minute, IM DOING MATH!!!

This game is fun, but super annoying. I had 12K at one point, then an order for 300 tea. Well shoot, tea and opium are both over 60!!!!! and I can't reach the requirement in time because I have no opium. The idea that Britain has to be happy is ridiculous. Screw tea, sell opium, and lower prices.

Nice the way it is. Took me maybe 4-5 hours of accumulated play time to beat it. You have to be on your game merchanting. If you time your purchases and sales with the good deals, you can afford to buy some tea at high prices.
