Found a walk-through and still cannot get level 50 done, this game is super broken... does anyone have any tips for getting level 50 done if its at all possible

Pixel pinpoint accuracy that randomly requires game quality to be cycled through to achieve a hit on all... this game is deserving of a 2 star rating

Turns out I couldn't complete level 40 even when changing quality was because I had zoom on the page. Heads up if anyone tries.

Apparently I'm unable to beat lvl 43, even with the walkthrough guide (https://jayisgames.com/walkthroughs/starshine/43.jpg). I suppose that the two outer red stars in the top should hit the red star in the left bottom corner (about 8 o'clock), but they miss. I already tried to change quality since this helped in some previous missions. I even tried the scaling mode (movie mode or something similar) since this was the solution for lvl 40 for me. I am using Firefox as Browser.
I would appreciate any help and thanks in advance.

Even though the levels build up with different types of stars, there's no real sense of progression as far as strategy or how you're supposed to approach the stages. You just fire at will and see whether it's the pre-approved strategy or not. Nope, try again. It's hard to even know if you are on the right track or not, because your aim may be slightly off or the graphics aren't responding properly.

Level 12 can't be beaten on low graphics
Level 40 can't be beaten on high graphics
Level 43 can't be beaten on medium graphics
This game needs to make up it's mind

WOW! On level 14, if you have the quality on low or medium, it just plain doesn't work. It's very stupid. At least I know that YOU MUST ALWAYS KEEP THE QUALITY ON HIGH for best results, literally.

[4]: ... just throwing out 40 or so "Levels" that really aren't "Levels" in any TRUE SENSE [meaning: The Higher Level = Higher Challenge] with 8 Stars here, then suddenly a board with just 2? - Not much modification. ALLOW THE PLAYER TO LEARN THE RULES GOVERNING THE PHYSICS - introduce with a couple of a stars. Allow the game to slow down, or an option to - whatever. Could've been SO MUCH BETTER. With such simple changes. This potentially could've been a "4.5 Star Rating" - [possibly - I am not prone to dishing out such high ratings]. With just some simple changes. END.

[3]: ... For me, this potentially could've been solved by an option one could just click to "slow down the movement of the shot and the resulting chain reaction, if any". There's no problem with it's speed AFTER becoming accustomed to how a shot will "split a star", and understanding precisely the angles - or ... jeez - it's all about that. I shoot, a star splits, the main shot goes forward, hits a star, two shots left & right of the star go out? - more or less? - hitting this and that - the area is so COMPACT that this speed is too fast to learn the actual results in such a way that one can REALLY hone down a very precise location and nail every Star in the FIRST GO ... So, another add-on solution: Basic, introductory, easy levels with just 2 or 3 Stars, further apart ....

[2]: ... Seriously: This is an example of a Game that I really WANTED TO LIKE. The core gameplay is simple, the controls are simple, and the goal is more or less intuitive - which is always awesome, to present something without having to lay down a word-heavy tutorial. As far as I can tell [although I see above complaints regarding levels unable to be completed unless graphics are changed, some bug, what not] one's "shot" is reproducible - meaning: Given the EXACT position as before, and shooting, the result is EXACTLY the same [and I've replicated results many, many times - which dispels a randomness that would have NO PLACE in such a Puzzle Game] ... Notwithstanding all this Puzzle Goodness, in addition to a great visual format and audio - it's just ... yes, again ... too much like "guess the shot" ...

[1]: Gave this Game a "3-Star Rating" about a month ago - and that's about straight [meaning: 5 Star Ratings just don't cut it - so I now "shout out" my "closer-to-what's-real" Rating in ".50" increments. [This is not a "3.5 Star Rating, for me, for instance.] This game ... the potential to have been much better, and by modifications that wouldn't require heavy-duty thinking and/or programming. Someone's opinion far up from way back sits well with me, regarding the game being closer to "guessing the number" versus "solving a Rubix Cube". Yes. And THAT ...

Level 40 won't work for me no matter what I do. Whatever zoom and quality I use, the red star on top doesn't hit the purple one to the left of it, just fires right past it, touching its tip but not lighting it up. All angles I have seen in guides fail.

It is a fun game except for one thing, in the later levels you need to change the quality a few times which is strange en makes it less enjoyable.

Finally solved lvl50. The solution had to do with reducing the game size in my browser. In the default size, the pixels of the last but 2 star wasn't aligned correctly I think. I wonder if when this game was released it was working correctly

I can't do level 50, I've seen 3 walkthroughs yet I try the shot and doesn't work :/ tried switching graphics and nothing :/
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Level 40 can't be done on high graphics, just to see if I was crazy I looked at 3 different walkthroughs all telling me to do the same shot; it didn't work until I changed it to low graphics. My assumption is that when you turn down the graphics the collision is also affected? I really like this game and the music was a perfect fit but that bug is really bad and I wish it'd get fixed. Anyways 3/5 if the bug changes then 4/5 maybe even 5/5.

Changed the resolution to low for level 40 and it worked, seems that the pixel you have to hunt for must not be there on high res.
Added the hunting tag since this game is a pixel hunt.

Also shooting randomly and complaining when it doesn't work is like taking Rubik's cube apart but only putting it together in a dark room and then complaining it's assembled wrong. This applies to blindly using the guide without understanding what's supposed to happen, too - you need to figure out what should shoot where, or at least try the various possible options. This is a puzzle game, there's no pixel hunt (though lvl 50 needs precise aim) as every star can shoot only a limited amount of other stars. You can even brute-force by trying all stars from both sides, as you only really need to check the extremes and stars in the arcs between them.

In early 2009 I stopped after lvl 7... and now IDK how because this game is beautiful! I simply had to complete it in one go. I just wish it had a slow-mo replay option, would help with finding out what did and didn't work and would be nice after figuring out the solution.

Can't seem to get level 40 to work, tried it at all graphics settings and at almost every angle. Gonna give up for now I guess.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
seriously.....cant beat it even with walkthrough......seriously......sometimes helps change resolution.....but seriously......ffs.....cant beat it even with walkthrough.....lol...F* that

Levels 43, 45 and 50 each took at least half a dozen attempts to get right - all the other levels needed only 2-3 shots at most. Pretty easy hard badge, less than half a hour to get through all 50 stages of it.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I have never in my life played a game where the quality setting and the browsers ZOOM affected whether or not you could beat a level until now
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Some of these levels are wacky. If you get stuck try zooming and out as it appears screen/game resolution changes angles.

It's just me or have to click on "Retry" every level failed it's pretty annoying ?
Because Yes.. I fail this level, so Yes, i wanna retry... =/
