This reminds me a bit of Elena shooter, one of the best games in this genre, check it out and you might get some ideas for a follow up on this game, which also is excellent, just a bit short.

@ bsmash i suppose it got the rogue-like tag because of your heroes getting stronger after each run. Somebody thought that this rogue-like aspect of the game is sufficient to give it the rogue-like tag i guess.

DESPERATELY NEEDS A SAVEGAME!? I am enjoying this, but it can be frustrating.
The mouse off the screen deal is awful (Chrome on Win7 here). You can be playing for days (gametime) and suddenly lose everything? Just add an auto-save that gets overwritten every level and at least you don't lose your progress.
Other than that I would say that the weapons should auto-reload. The spacebar stinks as this is really a mouse game and clicking the mouse button only works when it feels like it.
The lag and the grind are also issues, but mostly I find the inability to continue if my browser blows up (which only seems to happen when I leave this game open) or I lose control of the mouse by accidentally moving it like a normal person does.
One more thing - It would be great to spread the creeps out more evenly on the first 10 days so you aren't sitting there doing nothing and earning nothing.

Can you change the recoil description to scale with strength, so that we can have a better idea of how much recoil we'll actually be dealing with?

Okay this is incredibly annoying, whenever there's a special monster about to spawn in the whole screen lags out for a few seconds and when it comes back the enemies are banging down and destroying the wall. I'm going back to Elona Shooter, this is a decent idea but there's too many bugs and problems to enjoy it.

I have also experienced the 'mouse off the screen,' bug please fix where there is no way to continue the game as the mouse does not click on the game anymore (3 times and counting with Firefox and Windows 7). Adding some music during the battle and town will provide some atmosphere. Also, is there any way to add more cpu characters to assist the player?
Sorry about that, it depends on underlying tech that I can't affect in any other way but changing engine - which I will do for next project. If I make a new shooter it will definitely have cpu characters, a pointer that stays on screen and speedup function :)

OK, so after 3 days, here are my stats: 163 wall, 70 gym / 71 phys ed / 90 classroom, 66 church relations, $2015 starting money. I got to level 32 a while back, and have just been tanking up since. I could probably get a lot further now. So... what do I win? :)

I finally got the AK-47 and in my first round with it the mouse pointer vanished! It was working great for about 10 seconds, then no pointer. So I died.

really fun game but came back this morning and the gun sight doesnt move with the mouse but does move to the mouse when I shoot. playing on chrome with windows 7

I feel like the witch levels are too hard relative to the other ones (even the necromancer, which comes after it). If you look at the high scores, most of them (including me at 79) have only died to a witch level. Maybe reduce the speed of the polar bears a tiny bit, or make them a little easier to kill.

Shoot the fat zombies in the stomach to crit them. Still haven't figured out how to crit spiders, or if it's even possible.

Had a great guy, 10 perfect days in a row, upgraded the school and church a lot, game crashes, when I come back I realize the game saves only WHEN YOU DIE... wtf? 1/5

this is an Elona shooter CLONE, almost EXACLTY. don't believe me? Elona Shooter is on kongregate. Search it up xD and yet, still a 5/5 for me

The "20 critical hits in a row" seems quite unfair... even with a DEX of over 50 and using a rifle, it is "impossible" or random. I cant´crit spiders or BigGuys [and I´m pretty sure I´m aimig right: I got to 16 in a row once...]
Spiders are real hard, but there's a small crit area in their center. Hit the fatso in the belly! :)
The 20-crit isn't called Simo Häyhä-medal for nothing!

Actually the big thing about roguelikes is they play like the game Rogue. A tiled, turn-based RPG w/procedural generation that's usually unforgiving with mistakes. Think ADOM, Nethack, Elona...

Have to say this gets to be toooo much pretty quick around level 14ish? The level where you get the first witch, with the polar bear/regular wolf/white wolf + witch all at the same time, that's hosing me down even with stats in the 40's, a damage upgraded AK, and a wall around 80. I get where you're going here, and it's actually even pretty cool, but you've got some unholy speed bumps in here like that that need some more smoothing as far as balance work. Also including things like play the game on a bunch of different days as a badge comes across as a bit beggy mate, sorry but gotta call that how I see it. It's still quite a decent outing, just needs a bit of smoothing and such. Hell it's a Stencyl game I like at all, that's a bloody miracle right there heh

I'm loving it, I'm playing on firefox and I don't get any bug reported here. It's easy to die at the start, but it's get better and better with every character. 5/5

I'm sorry for saying this again, but I seem to have an issue with the "Game Over" screen. I've died 4 times, and only once has the tombstone shown up. Also, there's just the "sound on/off" button and a wooden rectangular box in the bottom right corner. Do you have any idea why that is?
Sorry i really don't but I'll look into it today. EDIT: Man I've looked into this and I just can't find what the problem is... Does this happen even if you reload the page? Once again really sorry for this...

Infinite health Glitch found.
If you drop to 0 life AFTER the day has finished, you will start the next day with 0 life, but be unable to lose said life.

I've tried to give it a chance, but no, it's still shit. After grinding the first two levels about 20 times and upgrading school it's still shit. THIS IS SHIT, I TELL YOU!

You actually took my sentiment to heart. This game may not be an ES+ but it's pretty solid and I'm sure noa would be flattered that his work inspired others.

this game is just begging for more fort upgrades like survivors and sentries and maybe a bank that would make it even more awesome
Thanks for the ideas I'm thinking of making a sequel with some more stable technology behind like Unity. That would remove the lag and other issues people have benn having.

shooting 5 times at the head doesn't mean that it will inflict damage even one time...
That might be a problem with a 6 shot magazin. :-D

Love the whole carry over concept. There is a few nice ideas from Elona shooter you might wanna think about, but great game as it is!
