all so for a decent starter xp work twords this
-3 combiend arms
-2 thrusters
-a jolly rogger
- 1 mission traker
then affter those add thrusters affter 3 cargos
this will give a decent xp farmer
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
the mission tracker makes it so you just get a extra 0.5x mission boost at the end of each zone, -spikeba11
the zone timer takes less time the faster you go (thruster) but be warned you have less repair time and ALL guns reload faster -yellowfellow50

I think the Mission tracker might be bugged. I get about the same max mission multiplier when I die with two of them as I do with zero and no other changes to my ship.I think thew variance is just a matter of the random ship generation of my oponents.

Random enemy spaceships is great feature, but later on they all become square - biological chaotic shapes would be more interesting. Use a cell apparatus in generation? 4/5 cause I'd like to see part 2 :)

Having the xp rate or the xp you have lower down so you can see how much you're actually growing by... i've had before where i'm getting like 0.03 at 10^5, so the numbers feel so small, and optimizing seems more difficult.

I feel like this game needs more parts and features, such as a flight control mode where you navigate through a field of enemies or something, also...

FROM MYCHAIRHASALOOIN
Incorrect, you see when a mummy spaceship and a daddy spaceship love each other very much.....and are siblings. This happens.
...best comment ever

great concept. that said the progression to upgrade ratio is so slow that i just might be able to run a snail race between now and when im going to get my next upgrade and ive only been "playing" for a few hours now...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
It would've been nice to have an upgrade that upgrades how well the other upgrades work, as well as one that makes the other upgrades cheaper, because the upgrades just get ridiculously expensive after a point

lol it's so fun watching ships die doing nothing
/!\ Warning OP ship coming /!\ Weak ships leader: Forces spread out and destroy it we can't have something destroy the galaxy Me:*kills ship* *kills ship* *kills ship* wow dis easy Weak ships leader: Noooooo

I have a fire rate of just under 30 rounds per second on my short range weapons. I hope to up it to where it is 30+ rounds per second soon.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Using the Jolly Rodger, Space Normalizer, Short ranged weapons and Inferno plates is a excellent combat combo if you can also have a decent bit of armor, cargo, and healing stuff. Its what I use to utterly own pretty much any ship that crosses my path to a extent. Of course you do end up spending some time repairing your actual hull unfortently once you get so far.

Is it just me or is the balance between long range and short range weapons a bit off? I get far more success with a single engine and solely long range guns. I get maximal fire and enemy ships if they have short range they are rendered useless.

Hmmm description doesn't really do justice to explain the game very well. Let's see... Build a ship (under the max tonnage). Trade is mentioned (with who? I see no money) fighting happens (with only one ship at a time?). XP is the only thing that matters to move forward.... Feels like it needs more.

Looks like the best way to gain lots of xp fast later on is to get enough tonnage to have both the normalizer and the Jolly Roger as well as some of those dragon head things and such. Im getting enough xp now by using this design that I will be able to up my tonnage again in a few hours while I had left this running overnight with my Long range setup and had enough built up to do multiple upgrades.

It takes a lot of time to make it past the 600 ton range much to my disappointment. I am going to be stuck here for some time still before I can up my max tonnage further.

This is a really great game! The only thing I can suggest is different shapes of each block. Like the ones in the games logo! Also, maybe we could get some new weapons?

Sorry to hear about your loss, and I hope that you are coping better now. For what it's worth, a great many of us wondered what happened to you, and this game still has a cult following, myself included :D I even even have a half arsed prototype thrown together to revive the spirit of this game :D Let me know if there's anything I can do to help out. I work for free if I can get a special thanks in the credits :D

for idle star 2:
1) maybe something to do actively while waiting, like a mini game that gives you xp based on your score and current mission multiplier.
2)different designs for each part that we can choose from.
3)ship presets. a build focused on damage, a build focused on defense, etc.
4)more ship-like AI builds, limit them to make shapes that look like ships, such as, triangular shapes H shapes, and maybe even rectangular shapes.(currently they just look like blocks placed randomly and all the blocks that did not touch the core or a block connected the core were deleted)
that's all for my suggestions and welcome back to kongregate ;)

Maybe an in-game chat would be nice, also new weapons like a laser beam or something, but they take up 125 tonnage and have a base damage of 65? (I personally think adding more weapons would add more interest to the game. Mabye one new weapon every update?)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Something to look for is making sure that all combination parts work properly with the skills that are supposed to boost them. For example, boosting the Fighter skill doesn't increase the short range attacks from Inferno Plate components.
I'd like to see the angled armor pieces as well.

Folks, I'm willing to help you if you want good builds. PM me and tell me what tonnage you need; Max tonnage I can do is 700; for now, will update every 100.
I will create a build based of YOUR max tonnage (ex. 500) and make sure it works. I'll then send you the link for the imgur picture so you can copy it.
I'm a free resource tool for all of you who are struggling, USE ME!
I'm constantly trying out new designs for my max tonnage: 700. I'll post my old max's (My max's do work! Very well!) I won't post the ship that I use because they are new and I'm testing them. Once I switch ships, I'll post the last one I used.
All original ideas. Get them fresh from me.
My tonnage 700 builds reach from Mission Multiplier; 15,811 - 21,241.
Still waiting on new ship survivability. My guess is 25K - 30K for MM.
New ship:
Armor: 7335
Armor regen: 178
Hull: 2991
SRW: 25.04
LRW: 0
CM: 440
FS: 0.35
(FS doesn't matter because of normalizer)
