Correction: No bug, I just missed some dialog. Spoiler: You have to, I think, choose the branch about the vanishing visitor, in the chat between Randy and Morgan, in order for the "spare dimension" dialog choice to appear. Seems like ending can overlap and Cricket can confront Lucille even when she's teamed up, she teleports along with Morgan and Randy if they are in a different room, otherwise the other two just stand there not following her and you see Lucille directly teleporting in that room. The original games avoids this preventing the ghost from leaving the murder room.

The bug or feature:
In various gameplays I found that once Randy and Morgan missed that very branch about the "spare dimension" preventing them from teaming up as it's the very dialog that triggers that event. Another time I found out that however Lucille talks to Morgan, Ted and Orval over and over, despite Morgan having talked with Cricket, knowing about his meeting and no dialog tree missing, Lucille fails to realize about Cricket's plan and suspiciousness. The internal dialog just doesn't trigger (or "click in"? ;) ) and she can't open her briefcase.
The vanilla ending shares one step with Morgan and Randy's teaming, as as said, Rose needs to have Morgan confessing her relation to unlock her closet for Cricket's investigation.
It's all for now but don't worry I might discover some more ;).

Talk with Randy about the Owner.
At this point Lucille starts self dialogue in which he realizes Cricket is suspect and is ready to open the briefcase in her room.
Morgan and Randy teaming up sequence:
As the old lady, Rose, talk with Morgan and have her confessing the relationship with the owner, which unlocks the investigation on her wardrobe, then talk with Randy about that and he'll disclose the troubled work relationship with the owner blackmailing him over his daughter.
Not sure about the necessity of Morgan's daughter (Iblis)making Randy share the trouble with his owner over his daughter, for him and Morgan to team up, unlikely, but it will unlock the investigation on his bed later for Cricket to learn his alibi and drop his charge of suspicion.
Now as Morgan talk with Randy about the owner and they'll share what they both know, teaming up. But not until an extra dialog branch appears, one about a "spare dimension in the hotel".

Doubt: Is this a bug or the game system scripted trying to prevent overlapping endings?
SPOILER MINUS THE UNRAVELING OF THE ENDS (I'd love a spoiler box here, it would come handy)
I'm currently trying to get the game both to the point of alerting Lucille and having her opening her briefcase and to the point of Morgan and Randy teaming up.
As known, the sequence for getting Lucille to know the Cricket's plot, is:
1:As cricket, talk to Ted, ask him about guest's alibi, ask the guy in bathroom as Ted, ask Ted again as Cricket.
2:At this point, as Morgan, talk to Cricket and he'll leak or slip off that he was planning to meet someone. As Lucille, talk to Cricket about his investigation (not sure or likely it's necessary but didn't rule it out yet), then to Morgan about the owner and she'll share that Cricket wants to meet someone.
Confront Ted about his sharing alibis and then Orval.

I love the multiple endings. Definitely a step up from the previous version. Very enjoyable. I also like that you can now examine some of the items around the hotel. And the doll thing is a nice touch. Great work. 5/5

I feel the game could hint better at it having extra endings (thought I was done after getting Crickets ending until glossing over the comments section). It was an enjoyable game to play though.

This is a fantastic game. Seriously. It uses a new mechanic, it's story-driven, and it's fun. Just..awesome. (Music could use a bit of work in some places, but the SFX were *great*.) Make more! 5/5

It would be nice to have the ability to cancel a dialog sequence to go back or skip immediately to the last line in the sequence. I would occasionally would hit 'z' too many times and launch into a sequence I'd already heard, which lead to spamming 'z', and repeat.

Here's a brief explanation on how get the 4 endings:
Ending 1: Learn Morgan and Randy's alibis and tell Lucille she's the only one without an airtight alibi.
Ending 2: Same as above, but don't confront Lucille until you've had her open the briefcase in her dresser.
Ending 3: Get Morgan and Randy to team up.
Ending 4: Team Morgan and Randy up. Have Lucille open her briefcase. Talk to Iblis as Sarah (you have to have possess Sarah while Iblis is standing right next to her). The rest is straightforward.

The screen turned black when I was trying to talk to Randy as Cricket after finding something important in his room. Clicking outside the screen would give me the options menu, but clicking resume did nothing. Lost a lot of progress.

Very Earthbound-like tile set. I love it. Game is great. One of the minor annoyances is collision detection (you cannot 'slide' along diagonal walls). Good story, nice atmosphere. Executed well.

Then I got a NASTY freeze, had to restart my browser when it crashed, wiped my save CLEAN. have to start all over again. I am afraid to even look the game he is trying to sell.

The game is interesting, there really needs to be a save and load option, unless I am missing it somewhere. The game freezes and crashed twice I tried to play through twice it crashed with out giving me the option to start where I left off. I thought the save book would give me the ability to start where it crashed but doesnt work. cool game but really needs to fix these bugs.

awesome game, but sadly i was unable to figure out "true ending" without walkthrough, even then it took some effort.still, well done, enjoyed it.

There is a problem , I think . Every time I try to make the cop ( I won't say who it is so as to avoid spoilers) enter the secret room ( corridor to be more exact ) the game focus on the dead body and the game freezes I think ? Help ?

I really want to like this game. It's got an interesting premise and the plot is actually pretty good. But it's glitch city. I already detailed one glitch where if you talk to Lucille just before she "teleports", the game freezes. Then I was having trouble finding some of the alternate endings, so I found a walkthrough, and what they're telling me to do simply doesn't work. I suspect I did something in the wrong order, or with people in the wrong rooms, and it takes too long to go back through it all, so ... screw it. If there weren't so many glitches, probably 4/5 (it's still a little tedious), but as it is now, 2/5.

So: spoke to Lucille in her room about a secret, then immediately spoke to her again. After that conversation, she teleported away and left me paralyzed.

I was really really enjoying this game...until Rose turned into an immovable white rectangle and Lucille kept glitching out. Made the game totally unfinishable :(

This game is short and very enjoyable. Swapping bodies was a realy unique way of getting different information out of the same people. The game has good dialogue with lots of humor while still keeping the mystery theme. Also I suggest addign a journal/notebook to cricket since he is the closest we have to a detective.

This game was so sick, I got the first 2 endings and thought "ok, nice little point and click game", but then I unlocked the other 2 endings and holy crap. This is like an 8-bit true detective game, I might have to buy Why am I dead: at sea after this.

So many plot holes and unexplained resolutions. The managed to get the 'ultimate' ending, really creepy and confusing. 4/5

The game keeps crashing on me. *spoilers, but that's the only way to say how the game crashes* I have everyone in the murder room, and then I either a) try to open the secret basement, or b) get the final encounter between the cop and lawyer going, and the screen goes blank. Not sure why.
