Even though it is "minimalist, it has great style and setup, so you can tell what everything is in it's eight-bit glory. The controls and animation are smooth, the sound is amazing, the gameplay is fun yet challenging, but not to the point of frustration, and the reference to Greek mythology? Awesome. Overall?
30,000,000/5

joep526, let the dog jump over your head and shoot it in the back (twice), then it will jump lower so you will have to jump over it and again shoot it in the back (once). 3 shots in total.

Not a hard game, just really tedious, and could do with the addition of a story. I mean, I know it has one, but I dunno wtf it is.

Oh, but I wish there was some kind of "press space to fire weapon" notice. I didn't know I had a gun until I got to Cerberus (and man was it tough getting there without that knowledge!)

To the Underworld and Back
Dude! You just completed the To the Underworld and Back achievement in Don't Look Back and won the To the Underworld and Back badge and 15 points!
View all badges. After 2300 tries :) btw, why did that Orpheus go back to the Underworld in the end?

Super sucky, not because it is so retro. Because it has inconsistent mechanics... very annoying. Not at all fun to play. @thedoseman: I hope you are joking. @FiveIronFanatic: before 2006? how about before 1986 eh. I think that's about the time I saw graphics in this style.
The game actually reminds me of playing Pitfall on the old Atari 2600 console... I didn't like that much either.

Sweet ending... I think the ending took just a little too long to reach, but people that are saying it's too hard just never played anything made before the year 2006. Overall, pleasantly minimalistic and a nice platformer, 5/5.

The art is easily a 5/5, but the rest of the game is simply horrible. I'm sorry, but this game does not deserve anything more than 1/5.

in case you dont know it... a guys wife dies, he goes in the underworld to save it, he plays music to put Cerberous to sleep(that part changed to a gun), he gets his wife but is told that if he looks at her before he reaches the surface she dies, he looks, it ends

Brilliant game, ridiculously hard. Maybe im not old enough to recall the killer platformers of ye olde dayes, but first that damn dog and now an impossible disappearing platform jump? RARRRR. Still, 5/5 for time killing, and that is what we play browser games for, is it not?

I understand the story, once I figured out that it was his wife I was looking at (and not a chili pepper that killed me if I looked at it) I was good, then the ending, the last screen, confused the crap out of me.

If I wanted to play Atart I'd have dug that crap out of the attic years ago.
Played this for the free card and am never returning.
