.. So you're trying to make a point about how developers spend lot's of effort and time on their games.. And you literally said in this "Game" that this only took you 3 minutes to make... Doesn't sound like much effort to me..

I lost the game. Level forty two is impossible...
On a more serious note, I know what you mean, I'm an amateur developer as well. Another thing I hate is when people try to get me to tag them as a developer on a game I made alone.

Makes alot of sense. I tried programming in flash and no matter how much i was learning code online, I couldn't find out how to make it so when you click a button you go to another layer.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
i think your games are funny. though i do believe that the "amateur devs" could try harder. i know nothing about game making and all that and i probably would make shittier games than them. however if they decide not to give their all into this I think that people have the right to say they suck.

If you aren't experienced enough to make a proper game, don't post it to a place like Kongregate. Nobody wants Stencyl rehashes. Make your crappy game, show it to developer friends, get advice, improve. No need to put them on here we're people will say mean things and you'll get butthurt and give up. We know your game is bad, you know your game is bad, get some CC from friendly D's who know how to make games and improve. Also, you don't need a D to judge a game, everyone can be a player, and all players have the right to tell if what they're playing is good or bad.

Back when I was like 10 I got ahold of RPG maker and I made a RPG with 1 enemy and one little town with 3 lines of dialogue. That qualifies me as a D right?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
So Apparently being able to use Stencyl or some other tool that does all the work for you qualifies you as an expert in "making games".

Y'see, I posted my game This Morning And With in the first half-hour, I already received a bad comment from a n00b non-developer who said,

this is stupid needs checkpoints, more levels---------- It sucks!

Thank you for making this, a lot of people like to say " This is horrible trash, a chicken could do better than this! " But, they have yet to even ATTEMPT to try to code a game, coding a game is hard, it takes a lot of work.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
That's exactly how I feel. All the n00b-gamers-who-suddently-became-Mighty-Game-Judges should see this.
My advice: Never believe a bad comment, unless it's coming from someone with a "D" after his name.

this is good, its true, it makes sense and a lot of people commenting on this are making your point too, which is great, a bunch of idiots vote a game down and moan about it yet they no nothing about making games or the challenge involved in creating a game on a computer and being able to create what you envision, it doesn't always come out the way you imagined it but in the long run at least you are trying, which is more than they are doing, sitting there rating games down cos they have no idea how much work went into it, how hard it is to make games and they clearly have far too much time on their hands, but i guarantee they couldn't even make what you just made, even given a week they wouldn't come close.

I tend to judge games on their design before the coding ability, and a lot of new developers tend to submit a plethora of games with virtually no thought put into them, which is no good in my book. I can understand why you'd need a certain level of coding skill before making a game that applies some design principles in a fun way, but the games that i see posted are essentially spam games. I don't mind them being there, and i'm never for putting someone down, but it isn't unreasonable to call them bad.

Just make a decent game and not random crap with your unregistered copy of PowerFlashPoint, 'kay?
Maybe people wouldn't flame you then.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
i never made a game
but i dont talk crap about others:
@Turgor: shutup, hes speaking his mind, and your just being a giant idiot who never made a game. so shutup, and like the creator says, make a game yourself, and shutup, then you can talk crap about other games, and then see all the flame you get on your piece of crap game. so just stop flamming unless you have a good reason

Loren, your hypocrisy amuses me.. "there are already way too many shootorial rip offs with no changed gameplay, only graphic." Hmm... *goes to your profile*, whats this?! a shootorial based shooting game with a stickman! Point of my comment: Don't shoot at people's games when you're making the same ones.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
comon people, if your gonna submit a game at least make sure that its something we havent seen before. there are already way too many shootorial rip offs with no changed gameplay, only graphics and too many crappy pong and maze and quiz games. look at the impossible quiz, it has skips, minigames, stuff that distinguish it, and thats why its fun. if your gonna strip a game in its genre down to its bare bones and try to submit it, then dont waste your time. build something new on the foundation people.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Not a game. Utter waste of my bandwidth. You suck for putting this up. Also your avatar is completely wrong, it should be a nice looping gif, but you use a version with just the first half. That combined with the fact you made this in MS paint tells me you are not a developer, just a wannabee. </flame>

(continued from below)
I've started working on making a Flash game but when I'm done I'll play it first and have my friends try it before I even think of posting it here. And if it still sucks when I post it, I won't whine and cry in the corner like YOU are. I will dismiss the "you suck" posts and accept the "This game sucks because..." posts and work the advice into the next version. So here's some tools and wood, build a bridge and GET OVER IT. Ending video was a riot though. :)

So if you walked into a restaurant and someone brought your food and it was burned lump of charred, unrecognizeable black matter, you'd just eat it and go, "Nom nom, the chef must be new." and then go tell the chef, "That wasn't very good, BUT keep practicing!" No. I'm sorry, but if a "developer" grabs MS Paint and scribbles up something that's utter trash, and then posts it to the world for all to play, then he's going get what he has coming. This site is designed specifically around this concept: people vote and flame how they want. IF the game is actually good, then the votes will balance out in the long run when more people give it 4-5 stars and say nice things about it.
