This game is really cool and fun, and weapons like Yoda and the Knightsaber are SO FUN TO USE! But the one weapon I want you to delete is The Orc's Revenge because its just the sniper but way slower...
But anyways, this game is awesome and deserves to be on the top games list

My other comment didin't post, but I got an error after tabbing away. Chrome on Mac, Orc Whisperer on Wind? My other message was about it seeming like it was freezing every time after I beat the no legs challenge but didn't exit, let myself die with 0 kills, then exited, then tried to go to Wind with the Orc W. After trying that again a few times and freezing, closing the tab, I went to the nursery with the Orc W and that seemed to unlock everything. Until now.

Pretty interesting to come back to this after a few weeks, and see how much has changed! A lot has changed. Had to relearn some things.
Currently getting a freezing bug in Mac Chrome when using Orc Whisperer on Plane of Wind. Will add more if it persists in any other configs. Update: It looks like it happened after winning the no legs challenge, then I died with 0 deaths so I could quit. I went to the first map with Orc W and it was fine, and now I'm fine everywhere. EVERYWHERE

On the "Plane of Earth", the gigantic enemies simply appear and kill you without any chance of you escaping. That has to be a bug.

I find it goofy that your own weapons can kill you, but the knightsaber doesn't deflect projectiles in a way that can clear enemies. Top that off with you dying whenever you get close enough to actually kill a caster with it and it is worthless- like all the other weapons.

2/2
This leaves the only useful weapons as the puny shotgun (good for clearing rooms), unarmed (moderately viable, because you can get to the orc to get a new weapon), knightsaber (good at clearing paths, bad at killing casters), slug (semi-viable, tends to fall between machinegun and sniper in terms of problems), rambo (easily the best weapon, rate of fire, damage, no knockback), and the orc's revenge (best path clearer, has damage, knockback, and a form of pierce).
That's 4 weapons that are nonviable above 25-30 score (for most players), and 6 that aren't; the problem being that the score thresholds are too high for the given weapons; when 40% of the weapons on hand are bad against crowds, it gets to be hard to cleave through the enormous crowds to get a good score and get the better weapons.
Hi, thank you for a very thorough comment. You are pretty much correct, the data speaks for itself. I will make a few adjustments to the weaker weapons.

Difficulty is still bad. Judging by high scores, only 11 people have unlocked plane of earth, and only 2 have gotten to and played perfect storm. I can't get past plane of earth or get 50 on nursery, mostly due to how few weapons are actually effective against large waves. Machinegun is too risky (uncontrollable KB), whistle is terrible since you outrun the orc while trying to survive, sniper can't clear a path, paintball is useless when there's more than 10 enemies and you can't just run around/through the squirming wall they make, plague has no killing/stopping/KB/penetration power (and it's not even a guaranteed kill on high-health units) which means you have to WAIT for enemies to die while you're surrounded, grenade is semi-viable but far too finicky (not only can it kill you or knock you into enemies, it can't get you out of a tight squeeze), the two unlock shotguns are worthless because most players can't get them (seriously, can we swap them earlier in the unlock order?) 1/2

I told you to add a flashing arrow along the side of the screen where a wave of monsters is going to appear. You didn't do that. If you had listened to me, your game would have been much more successful. Oh well. Live and learn :)

Enjoyable- I liked the dynamics of the weapons and the way the machine gun is hard to control. I wasn't wild about the weapons constantly changing just when you'd got the hang of one, but then it does add to the challenge.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
if you shoot an enemy with the paintball gun, maybe the other enemies could attack it. I don't think it will make the gun super good, but at least not as terrible as it is right now :P

The Plane of Wind was probably the hardest unlock in the game to get. Score 40 in the Plane of Earth with tough as nails enemies, without the best weapon in the game, which is obviously the Super Shotgun. If it weren't for the Plague it would be nearly impossible.

I think the adjustments you've made are quite helpful! Spawn rate seems to have helped, because a few minutes in this morning and I'm at a new high, but not by much. I'm not sure the exclamation mark at the top of the screen helps anything really, since my attention is usually elsewhere. I appreciate what appears to be your effort to respond to my feedback though. Maybe the flames themselves can flash too? Or last very slightly less time?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The new enemy (which I'll call a Bruiser) has such a high spawn rate it ends up making the game more frustrating instead of more fun. Please consider lowering their spawnrate to that of one comparable to Casters.

Continuing earlier post ...
Third, the waves were very different. Early on, they were almost all a single monster, but the later ones would still have a focus, but add the others in order to prevent a single strategy from working too easily. Finally, there was a highly leveraged balance between dying and gaining lives by rescuing family members for points. If you could run levels 21-40 with fewer deaths than you gained, you could play forever. (This was a down side w.r.t. it pulling in quarters, but only a few of us were ever that good.)

Since you said that Robotron was your inspiration, let me say why I thought that game was awesome. One thing I've never seen in games here of this sort: it was in waves, where all the monsters for a wave would be there at the beginning, so there was a really good variation of intensity. A wave was super intense at the beginning, but then, once you had killed a manageable number of monsters, there was a calm period while you mopped up and rescued the remaining family members. Second, the different monsters were very different, with different behaviors. (You've done well, here.)

What am I doing wrong? I am usually decent at these sorts of games, but I have just played for 15 minutes and my top score is still 13. I've tried the obvious, mostly focusing on the kid but being opportunistic with good weapons; I've tried picking the urchins up as fast as I can, and mostly dodging; and I've tried waiting whenever I have a good weapon and trying to clear out the monsters. They respawn too quickly for that to be effective. Am I missing something obvious? Upgrades or something that I didn't find? I may be old, but I'm not getting THAT old, yet. (I was an expert at Robotron, back in the day.)

all progress has been reset?
Well, thanks.
I won't do the shitty 40 combo at the orc place again that took me like at least 30 tries last time.

You know, I came back to this game to knock out some heroic feats, but I'm kinda glad that there are new achievements to get all over again!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Okay, while the game is charming there are some problems. Unarmed for example is functionally useless. The push back does not nearly accommodate for the distance that they gain on me in the time they move, and to top it off it's non lethal, unless I'm supposed to be more patient in a game where so far most enemies have been dying in one hit. The bigger ones obviously dying after 2 or 3.
On top of that the death projectiles that they leave fade in such a way that the very edge appears invisible, at least to me which has lead to some frustrating dodges that actually just killed me.
Some variety in the death throes may also be welcome instead of every non fodder enemy exploding in a random ring of death which kills you if you dodge too tightly for the game.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Any chance you get rid of unarmed? Or at least make it a slight chance?
It feels like I only die when I get it and a massive wave decides to come through at just the direction of the orc...aka instant doom while I try to navigate the ever growing minefield
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
nice to see updates! You can tell us in its own tab next to Instructions and DEscription. Btw, I just completed the last 2 heroic feats and the % shows 0.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
yeah, some upgrades would be interesting.
I think in general that the "collect a certain amount of orcs" is a bit too much used while the "kill a certain amount of enemies" is used not enough.
Speaking exxagerated, they game becomes more of a stealth like thing (move through the enemy hordes without any damage taken) due to that fact that there isn't really much to achieve by standing there or walking around and slaughtering many enemies.
Anyways, upgrades would be nice either way :-)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
you could add a last stand level where the counter is enemies taken down, without the little orc, and being able to choose a weapon.
