This game (and the entire site) has gone downhill since the loss of Adobe Flash. This "Ruffle" stuff has so much lagtime and just drags. (And that's IF it works at all.)

I got the fish badge 11 years ago. Each time this game comes up for botd I spend some time trying to do it again, and I never can.

@hdawi corkscrews don't affect your nice entries; you only get it by diving into the water with an angle that is equal to the angle you're moving.

wait, there's no (minimal) gravity in space, right? So wouldn't the dolphin continue to fly up once it reaches space? :/
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
The ocean is incredibly shallow compared to the dolphin... The moon is 30 seconds' momentum away from Earth's surface... Gentlemen, I have come to the conclusion that this dolphin is 100 feet tall.

BAH! I hate when this game gets BOtD. It reminds me of my hours of repeated failures. I managed to see the restaurant once, but I was just a couple meters short :(

here is an easier way 2 get 2 the restaraunt first bulid up some serious speed by exiting the water at a 30 degree angle and entering in likewise. Forget about corkscrews and that crap. then when u have about 20 nice entries or a minute left, exit the water at a 60-70 degree angle. Then when u reach space, shift into a 20-30 degree angle and START TO CORKSCREW if u pass a group if stars, starslide by corkscrewing into them and pressing up when u slide once u have starslided 2 or 3 times, dive down into the water. begin to move up and corkscrew underwater at a 20 degree angle. When u reach the water, tailslide and immediatly press up. Then starslide at 20-30 degree angles until u reach saturn or neptune. Then, make one massive final dive to earth. exit 20-30 degree tailslide and press up. u will FRICKING FLY. make sure to starslide if u pass a group of stars. One you reach "new horizons" you are getting closer. Get this message to the top of the list and keep it alive!!!!

Ok I finally got the impossible badge, so I thought I would share the method that worked for me. First, start jumping at a 45 degree angle out of the water, as your speed increases the angle should get closer to straight sideways. You shouldn't ever get above the clouds. Keep doing this and rack up speed for 1 minute. After 1 minute start jumping just a little higher than the moon and start corkscrewing, if you hit a group of stars press up right after you start starsliding on them, that will make you jump off the stars and you might be able to land on another group of stars. After you've starslid several times drop back into the water and tailslide on your way back up then jump out of the tailslide immediately. Starslide as many time as you can while you’re in the air. (If you have time left after this then keep starsliding tell you’re almost out of time.) Then, fall back to the water and tailslide one more time for a massive boost! Rate this message + so others can read it. Thanks.

Congratulations! You just won the Fish Thankfulness Badge and 60 points!
Welp, I can finally stop playing this.
The horrible part is, all of the times I had practically a perfect run, I always got unlucky with getting starslides on my final jump for the restaurant.
The one time I DID get the badge, I missed my tailslide, coming out of the water at like a 30 degree angle. Got a bit lucky with some starslides, and randomly hit one starslide at neptune that blasted me way past the restaurant. Troll physics.

"There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened."
The man who said that, Douglas Adams, is the author of the extremely popular scifi series "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy". "The Restaurant at the End of the Universe" (referenced in this game) is the second book in that series.

when my dolphin jumped so high and perfectly landed in the water he perfectly hitted the ocean floor and is now perfectly ... sleeping

Here's a little trick to pick up speed really fast (and to have more time to reach the restaurant):
Swim around in the water (do not not jump out of the water) and gather a school of fish (maybe around ten fishes or so..). When you swim around with the school of fish, next thing to do is to find an extension circle close to the surface. Press the escape button when you are to the left of the circle, and then restart the game.
First thing you do in the new game is to go through the extension circle and then jump out of the water. You now get the tricks (if your school of fish was big enough) "school's out" and "X'druple schooled", and suddenly your speed is a lot faster.. Hope someone finds this useful!

I'm bad at this game, after two hours my max height was 129, then I managed to reach 170 and got the badge... that's enough by now, I shall try the impossible badge in a distant future

I just got the impossible badge, and I gotta say that this badge lives up to it's ''impossible'' rating. It's ridiculously hard.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Maybe it's just me, but almost everytime that I go for a jump and a roll, I misclick the down arrow too soon, before I get out of the water, and I end up doing a tailslide.... so annoying

Here's the trick to getting to the Restaurant at the End of the Universe:
1) Start up by building speed. To do this, exit the water at about a 20-30 degree angle from the horizontal, and enter back into the water at -20 to -30 degrees. Continue to do this for a good minute and a half to build up a lot of speed - once you're able to get fireworks at that angle, you should have enough. You don't really need rings. They help, but don't go out of your way for them.
2) Once you're ready for your attempt, exit the water at about a 45-60 degree angle. Hold down to perform corkscrews - this will also allow you to starslide if you pass a group of stars. Make sure you aren't holding up!
3) Once you star slide, immediately press up on the keyboard. This will LAUNCH you up from the starslide, making you go higher.
4) Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you reach the top.

After getting a Double Apollo 18, I accidentally went straight down and embedded my dolphin in the ground. I was seriously stuck there for the remaining 10 seconds.
