I'm also a bit surprised beta testers felt so daunted by less linear gameplay. I usually like non-linear exploration; to be honest, it's the main thing that defines a 'Metroidvania' for me. A map is definitely essential, though, even in a small-scale game, since it's very easy to get lost/confused in exploration games. Other suggestion: It would also be nice to save the humourous quips in the trophy text once you acquire them. Perhaps update the trophy page with them? Oh, and in case people don't know, LoK has a TV Tropes page (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/LegendOfKalevala)! Have fun with it.

Brilliant. I wish there were more designers who actually care about video games as an art form like you do. The story was interesting, and I liked the atmosphere of slowly accumulating memories. I also liked how you explained how most of the powers worked, though I'm disappointed there's no explanation for double jumping. Ah well. The music was quite nice, though surprisingly fast-paced and upbeat in places. Suggestion: Record text from memories in case you want to see them? Perhaps in an additional sub-menu on the main menu. It would be also nice to have an easier way to backtrack at the point right before the final boss; it probably took me at least half and hour trying to get through the lava gauntlet backwards.

okay I was heading to the temple and I was in the first room after you fight the boss / monster thing well I got to the part where there is a pool of acid under you and you have to use the moving platforms to get past then you have to fight a ground robot and an air robot after that you get to a spot that has the path that continues on blocked by stone you can't break. I only had 1 life left and I moved close to the blocked spot and I got ambushed I died. well I went back and I'm not getting ambushed anymore so I can't continue on so wtf?

I've noticed that after i have played the game for a length of time (twenty minutes to a half hour) the controls start to get very sloppy, keys will either become unresponsive or "stick" making the character continue moving in that direction for a short while (usually into a pit of acid) the jump keys will not work when pressed, neither will the attack key. usually saving&quitting, then reloading the page fixes it.This may just be my machine since I'm not seeing any other mentions of this bug readily. but it may be something to check into if any more complaints pop up about this.

Loved the music, story, gameplay, graphics, and kuriiri. In other words, I loved everything (except fighting the last boss on my not-always-responsive computer x.x; ).
I've modified the options menu so there is a new setting for disabling particles. See if that helps. The final boss uses a lot of particles so that is probably why the final boss fight slows everybody down.

Peeteriz. Even if you activated all of the crystals before you get to that crystal behind the running shield. You can walk up to the double sealed wall that is supposed to open and it will open if you had done the crystals prior to this point. :)
I think the confusion comes from the fact that in prior versions, the door used to open once you entered the level. Now it waits for you to walk up to it before it will check to see if you have all three crystals. This was necessary because in some circumstances, the earlier method might miss that you had all crystals. (I won't go into the technical why because it requires me explaining about database concepts such as transactions and rollbacks. ;))

I give up. Every bullet the last boss shoots makes the whole game stutter. No effects are on, sound and music are off, quality is low.
I can't even tell the difference between the input lag and missed keystrokes, so I'm single-jumping the explosions a second late, and I'm gliding into the bombs.
There is fun to be had in this game, but since I'm not having it anymore I'm done. Thanks for making it.

I had activated the other two crystal podiums before getting the one that tells you to go activate others - and had to re-activate them one more time before the door let me through. Feels like a bug that needs a fix.
The door behaves differently versus prior versions. It doesn't open immediately. You must get right up to it before it will check before you have all three crystals.

And to the one crying about getting stuck - that is impossible. All you need to do is teleport back to start, you can't get stuck. :)

I like that the creator of the game actually took the time and energy to give it a story ( even a non-formulaic one ). It's a personal touch that's missing from a lot of games nowadays.

game says it doesn't save when you activate a checkpoint, that's kinda true, but it seems like it saves when you respawn at one?

After getting the double jump, I was stuck because that's where I decided to turn off the game. Lost my first file trapped in the double jump area >:l

save and quit while dying sometimes freezes the game, don't know exactly what you have to do but I bet the code has some clues :)

I'm stuck due to a bug. I've gotten to the part in the temple past the human where you enter a room and a group of monsters spawn, requiring you to defeat them before the door to the next room unlocks. The first time i did this, a monster spawned on top of me, resulting in my death. When I got back for try number two, I couldn't get the monsters to spawn. I tried leaving the cave and returning, and even refreshing the Kongregate page, but nothing happens.
I'm not gonna start an entire new character just because of the hard bag, but it's a shame because I really wanted to see the ending to the story. Great game anyway, 4/5.

Does anyone have a list of where you can find all the health powerups? I need two badges: the Health one and the Owch one.
P.S. - on the JIG review page, the developer mentioned Klingons in the "Owch" award.

And that iss the best way I know to spend time on a Sunday. Best storyline I have ever seen in a game with the hardest final boss EVER. 5/5, my only suggestion would be to make the height of the flames when the bomb hits the floor lower so you can jump over more than one of them. Can't wait for the expansion :)

Has anyone managed to get all the badges? I still do not how to get the "Ouch! Make it stop!" badge. The completionist in me is going crazy! Love the game, though. Beat it about 2 and half hours the first time, then breeze through in just 40 minutes the second time, but still managed to get all the power-up's and gems. Quite fun!

So I activated the machine with my 4 gems... only to find that I now have to fight my way back up with double the enemies! The Kiriiri likes it the hard way doesn't it? Great game with a moving story, reminds me of Endeavor. Did I get back to the spaceship, or did I stay on the planet? 5/5

when i get to the last boss the game glitches every two seconds. I jump to reflect the bombs, the game pauses, when it resumes i start gliding and get hit.

OMG - aggravation! Okay, I finished the temple, saved up on the roof, and jumped into the beam of light. I guess that is the bad ending. No problem - continue and restart but this time climb down thru the hole and activate the four switches. Climb back out, jump into beam and... good ending! Hurray! - - WAIT - Where's my stinking badge? The first two badges worked okay, but why did the last one fail? because I did the bad end first? Come on - I have to replay the whole game? really? 3 more hours?

Argh - ok, be careful when saving a gave and continuing the next day. Apparently the author is making changes, and the saved game screws up if the game version changes.

Final boss not too hard - just use your sail and lure the big head into the four giant mines. Don't touch the floor if posible...

I loosed all my saved progress, just when I had completed everything.

I know I sound like I'm whining, but this sucks. I just had everything, then badges appear, and I don't have anything at all.
