Tip to making the last half of the game infinitely easier if you're playing a Ranger. Go start the quest "Guiding a Youngling" and never finish it. The archer they give you is just about immortal and can tank pretty much anything that doesn't do more than 800 damage in one shot. Makes for a perfect shield to draw aggro while you kill everything.

For the quest "guiding a youngling", don't finish the quest right away. Use the archer Francis to help you finish the other quests. He has 770 hp, a bow that slows enemies, and he can heal himself so you don't have to babysit. If he dies, just abandon the mission, acquire the mission again and he's back!

Got to the end of the game, died to the black council, and when I respawned I didn't have the phoenix stone anymore. So impossible to complete now. Bah...

Feature: When you die, you lose all items gained since last save, but keep quest progress.
Bug: Completing a quest, obtaining the reward, and dying before you next save will keep the quest completed, but remove the reward, thereby making you unable to ever get that reward again, ever.
I'm not bitter about losing the ultimate wand to a stupid, easily avoidable death, nope, not me. *Sigh*

To kill the spellbound guardian:
Step 1: Kill the frost mage
Step 2: Kill the fire mage
Step 3: (optional) farm the weak minions that he spawns until you want to stop
Step 4: Use the rune of stone and keep attacking so until he dies so that the .25s stun doesn't allow him to heal.

It seems the fatal flaw this nation made politically is to name their governing body the "Black Council". That's just asking for trouble.

Hooray, a boss that heals 2000 HP at a time! Now it's an irritating race to see if you can out-DPS his healing. Not working? Good thing you have a CC skill to interrupt him as a wizard... once every 20 seconds. During which time it's more difficult to hit him, and after which he'll immediately proceed to heal up again. Everything was fine (if a bit stale) up until that point, when it became to irritating to try and work around.

Ranger with Stun Rune is one of the most OP strats to clear the game fast. Also don't bother with damage after the stat is past 100, you're looking to crit more sustainably at that point anyway before heart stone. To kill the black council focus on stunning down and killing the melee guys then use cover to shoot the ranged council members while the cover blocks their attacks (which are bigger and hence at some angles will hit the cover while you can easily shoot past it.
