in addition to my previous comment, also the multiplayer reprisla game could have a map editor, where you could make levels for matches

Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. Give a man a flat, unoccupied 8 X 8 plot of land, he still starves to death.

This game is under rated i think. The idea behind this game is.. amazing. The whole forming colonies, war, special powers, terraforming, its all stupendous ideas, but not perfected. You could work on the controls, using the arrow keys and WASD is a little hard to use, the minimap is the best way to control the map, i think it would be a good idea to have different speeds (pause, x1 (normal), x2, x3) something along those lines. Work on the graphics a little. The pixel graphics are cool, but perfect them more. Expecially in the terraforming mode, its very hard sometimes to see if you have to go up, or down, ect. Also some more levels :) and a freeplay mode is a good idea. Maybe add in upgrades like how fast your people spawn or move or how strong they are in fights, how much mana the spells cost how powerful they are, like for terraform it could make the radius bigger. So on. But good job on the game it rocks! i look forward to more please :)

Lvl. 19 was the first one I couldn´t beat solely by terraforming. Was beginning to wonder if I would ever need another skill

If the game gets boring at the end, build a mountain to build your city on and drown all enemies with the Water Storm spell.

Something seems to be seriously wrong if I keep losing the tutorial level 3. I build my forces, they build faster. I attack them, my guys die faster. Lose lose. The tutorial didn't say much. What am I doing wrong?

For those stuck on loadin screen, try a different browser, I used FF initially and done the same to me, using IE to play works fine, not the most ideal platform, but worksjust fine.

This game is ridiculously easy and not at all complex. Most of the powers are totally superfluous - you could use then to attack your foes, but if you just start making large areas of flat land then your population will grow so large that you'll just be able to take them over directly. If you can be bothered to make a hero then you've basically won already. I like some of the mechanics, and the look and feel of the game, but it needs more actual gameplay.

If you make a new one in the future, maybe add an "Are you sure?" prompt for the resign island... I paused to go to the bathroom and lost about 20 minutes of island warfare :(

I really like the game and I loved Populous... but this is too easy, and repetitive, just spam terraforming as if your life depended on it and when your tribe grows larger than the enemy's just attack, and keep terraforming. If you strugle a little bit, toss Lightning storm in the middle of the enemy's land and you're done.

Very addicting game. My only complaint is that it does not really tell you what things do like forest. I think it heals the bad attacked ground but not sure. If it does it is ushaully just faster to drop the ground into the water and rebuild it. Also ushaully teriforming everything into a parking lot will win it for you. Which is the first thing i do drop my starting base to sea level.

Also, I think the recent change of terraforming's cost was a good idea. Right now it's low enough to be used freely, but high enough so it isn't total mindless expansion. Some of the other effects, though, I think should be reduced slightly.
Thank you, yes I think the increase helps to use the terraform wisely. Just updated with 'back to title' option in menus also some minor bug fixes on saves and balancing :D

An option to adjust skirmish games before you play them might be a good feature (unless it's there already and I'm not observant enough to notice it)

The trick to this game is terraforming. Make a large flat space so that you have all large barrack/castle structures making soldiers. The most effective magic seems to be something that leaves a long scorched earth effect disrupting the enemy's large structures (which are also very hard to capture). For my money, I enjoyed Lightning Storm the most - it's cheap and spreads out the scorched earth all over the place. The AI (on later levels) repairs its home rather efficiently from Whirl Pools and Fire Mountains but never has a recourse to this spell.

Why am I collecting different powers when all I need is the terraforming hand of god? Fun game but terraform isn't worked out as well as it should, and I feel it's way too cheap as well. Either that, or mana regen is too high.

I want to turn off the music but keep the game sounds. Why has it become so popular in the last times to deny that wish?

...huh? why does resigning on level 3 give you the badge for completing it? and how come nobody noticed? am I seriously the first idiot to fail at LEVEL 3?!

Tidal wave has got to be the most broken skill, build mp farms, build to highest place by waypointing, *wave* goodbye to everyone.

One of the key features of the populous game was to raise up a parcel of land by two and lower the center, thus creating a flat 9x9 area, in one click. Would love to have that feature!
Hopefully one of the fire totems is a volcano!

1. You are not a god in any way - you are a dump terraforming machine. 95% of things you should do is just to make all flat. This is more than enough for most missions. Another 5% - remove enemy swamps, drown their heroes. The sheer amount of micromanagement with this makes it is not so fun as it could be.
2. Mana issues. You don't have enough mana to feel yourself a GOD. Hurricanes, heroes, storms? Nope. More terramorfing. You have mana? Ah, the mission ends..
3. Troubles with lack of help. Water pool can suddenly disappear. In which aspects earth hero is better than storm one? What is the point of forests?
4. Useless spells. Say flame mountain. Why should I do it, if I need to make it flat again? Usually it is much better to storm the front. While your warriors do their job you terramorph as a damned slave.
5. Slow scroll, no fast forward button. It was mentioned before - they are vert worth adding.
3.5/5. 4/5 for the spirit of the very first Populous.
P.S Music is great.
