Surveybeta, you just spewed some of the most ignorant drivel I have ever heard. The West loves Chinese goods and our high standard of living would simply not be possible without them. Ever study international trade or economics?
Furthermore, I have lived in China for six years and I can assure you that Apple computers are most certainly not illegal in China. They have authorized dealer stores EVERYWHERE! I see more Chinese with iPhones (yes, real ones not the fake ones) than I ever see in the States.

It becomes pretty impossible after some time. I had to deliver 590 crates of tea but because of me buying too many the price skyrocketed to 99 and stayed there. And when it falls down to like 8 I cant buy stuff fast enough, and because i had to pay 15k to save a ship i had little money left.

2008. US is in grip of addiction of 'Made in China Brand'.
The only source for 'Made in China Brand'.. is China.. But the West have nothing that China wants in return I swear, except USD and some recycled paper .. the trade is bankrupting the Western countries treasury.
the offer a solution: Apple! The Macintosh Apple in California are the sexiest in the world and the demand for apple in china is high, there is only one problem apple is prohibited in china by imperial decree who monopoly the fake apple production industry.. if the America can smuggle apple into china they can trade it for Yuan . with the Yuan they can buy some made in China junk and keep the Yankee and the hippies high..

Tea fluctuating seems like a moot point since you spend the last couple of years clicking that tea button constantly anyway! A buy 100 or 150 button would be much appreciated.
When i had delivered the penultimate shipment both tea and opium prices all of a sudden rose to 90+ and stayed there for quite a while, even with 300 opium stockpiled its impossible when every harbour turns risky and impounds your ship. By the time the tea ship were rapping on my door i was practically bankrupt, all harbours would pay less than buying price for opium, and tea carried an even higher cost.

one thing that i didnt like:
tea price is like 90$ and you have to buy 570 tea crates?
tea price is 20 $ and you have to buy 570 tea crates? this sounds better? nah, cause after you buy like 90 of them, tea price will skyrocket to 80+ again...

It's true that you can't buy enough tea in the last year to meet the order, but you can buy extra tea beforehand and stock up. Buy tea whenever it's cheap!

yes! i helped 195 Billion people use Opium. Fun game, not too hard, not too easy. Stop crying over the 30 at a time button. unlimited trade at once would make the game too easy and even more unrealistic

The last year in the game, you literally cannot click the buy tea button fast enough. I had spent most of the level click it constantly, and it wasn't even close. There needs to be a buy a lot more than 30 teas at a time.

Was a very interesting game. I love the buy low sell high games, They make me feel like an actual grown up instead of just a grown up with no job XD I agree with HVFreak when they said "Let me buy 200, 300 hell, i would buy 500 crates when the prices are good" I couldnt have said it better. The instructions could be a little clearer, and def add the exit button or restart one. BUt, this is going on my favorites list.

With all this tea flowing about I should have just invested in the indoor plumbing futures. I would have made a killing!

It's all right, but not getting any profit or any perks out of selling tea doesn't make any sense. It's not good business sense that I can't even break even and have to sell my ships constantly.

hell the game was simply click every window that paid more than 80 per chest and pay your way out of impounds while constantly clicking 30 tea and 30 opium... 1/5 that was basicly a waste of time i dont know how it is rated so high

Was it just me or was Britain not paying me anything for the tea? How is, working you backside off getting people addicted to harmful drugs so that the British can all drink tea, fun?

Beat the game on my 2nd go around. Here are some general tips that might help those having trouble:
1) Keep everything moving. Sitting on money or keeping ships docked is lost opportunity cost! (A good rule of thumb I found was to buy opium for anything less than 40 and sell for anything above 60). I wasn't really sitting idle for more than 5 seconds at any given time.
2) You can more or less see if the price of goods will continue dropping or taper off by how fast the price changes.
3) Limit risky business (unless you have the bribe card). Worst case is either you lose a boat+cargo or buy back for your own goods; both outcomes can really set you back.
4) Buying any good ~5 times in a row will cause the price to skyrocket; wait a bit between buys if the price isn't super low.
5) I usually buy tea whenever its under 30. Remember you have extra time to meet the quota in the form of Brits gradually getting impatient (resets every "year").
I hope this helps!

@dudeness213, I would uprate your comment over 9,000 times if I could. As for the game: awesome game, very fun, just the right amount of challenge without being too hard. I thought I was going to lose there at the end, but I barely pulled through thanks to just being patient.

Some hint to win this game, buy anything lower than $60, and sell anything higher than $60. If you are running out of money, compare the prize between tea and opium, buy the cheaper first. Before the final year, they are requesting 510 tea, it is quite high amount, and you probably run out of time. So at this moment, trade risky port with no choice, and buy as many as tea you can. You may lose some ship, but after this trade, they will compensate your lost. Keep buying when cost below 60, this strategy can keep you some store before it is too tight. Nice Game 5/5

The ending is terribly hard since basicly all your ships get seized and no non risky ports exist.
Not to mention the price of both opium and tea was through the roof.

as much as some of us enjoy complaining about it, this is indeed a fact of history that did indeed happen, and swearing at a man who decided to make a game about it can't change what did happen, but it does open people who would have otherwise never known about this to what happened, with that said, good game, a bit complicated but good game

My history on this topic is sketchy however I'm fairly certain it wasn't in the British East India Company's business plan to give away their profits which is why they prevailed and any moron "independent smuggler" like this did not. Thumbs up for a stupid business plan of giving away all your potential profits in tea.

I've never played a game where winning feels so much like losing...
564 billion cups of tea drunk, 293 million opium users means 1,925 cups of tea per life ruined
1 cup of tea a day means 29,200 cups of tea per 80 year old englishman
so it takes 15 lines ruined to make an englishman happy
guess that sounds about right.

oh, and 6th....give us the option to buy faster ships. 7th, the cap of buying 30 at once is ridiculous since we need well over ten times that on later missions (that are timed nontheless).
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I really tried to like this game but the penalties ultimately ruin it. 1st of all, we should get money for the tea we sell. 2nd, we should be able to sell tea to other ports or have a 3rd commodity to trade. 3rd, why are we buying tea from the same person who's buying it from us? The ports should sell us tea at prices built on our trading relationships. 4th, the increased demand of tea plus the decreased timer ensures that the game ends quickly.....why make it so frustrating on players so quickly? 5th, the whole piracy thing stinks....there should always be a safe port option available, even if it's at a lower price. Overall, the government demanding free tea from an opium trader is ultimately what ruins the game. Make the govt pay (and give options for a new ship or cash), then you have a strategy game. For now, it's a five-ten minute sprint to always lose.....which defeats the purpose of any game.

What the?!?! When it's risky I can get 69 crates of opium through, for 99. each. But we can't get a damn 4 crates?! Lol
